No longer a high-tech hard-to-come-by diagnostic luxury, 3D cone-beam imaging is now standard of care in some dental disciplines, particularly implantology. The latest guidelines issued by the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (AAOMR) name cone-beam CT as the preferred method of pre-surgical assessment of dental implant sites.

Image and Exposure Control
The i-CAT FLX offers exceptionally flexible, clinically driven imaging control. The desired field-of-view can be targeted on each patient while minimizing the radiation dose. The i-CAT FLX also maximizes user control over workflow and the scanning process. Field-of-view, dose, and resolution all can be customized.
Several innovative features are integrated into the i-CAT FLX. Visual iQuity image technology provides i-CAT?s clearest images. The QuickScan+ feature reduces scan time, resulting in a full-dentition 3D scan at a lower dose than a panoramic image.For control and flexibility, SmartScan STUDIO?s guided-workflow touchscreen interface and integrated acquisition system simplifies selection of the appropriate scan for each patient at the lowest acceptable (ALARA) radiation dose. It allows the clinician to choose from pre-set scan protocols and/or customize user-generated presets for simple and fast scanning.Dramatically reducing retakes, the i-CAT FLX Ergonomic Stability System (ESS) offers seated positioning, robust head stability, and adjustable seating controls to minimize patient movement. ESS also enables easy access for patients in wheelchairs.The i-Collimator electronically adjusts the field-of-view to limit radiation only to the area of scanning interest.
