BURLINGTON, MA, Nov 7, 2014??There is no need to gag your patient when a better restoration can be made with CAD/CAM technology,? declared Daniel C. Delrose at the November 2014 Updates in Contemporary Dentistry meeting. Dr. Delrose talked with the audience about the integration of CAD/CAM technology into a dental practice, focusing on the twin benefits of efficiency and consistency.

Consistency

Dr. Delrose described the excellent fit and consistent results that are possible with CAD/CAM technology. Clinicians can achieve greater control of the final restoration, which can lead to more consistent outcomes. This includes control of tooth surface morphology, contours, contacts, and characterization.

Efficiency

Efficiency for both the dentist and the patient is possible with CAD/CAM restorations. When a crown can be created in a single appointment, both the practice and patient save time. By eliminating temporaries and traditional impressions, time and money are saved. And this much-improved patient experience can provide the ?wow? factor that may lead to referrals.

In Practice

After the lecture, Dr. Delrose spoke with Dental Learning about what he uses in his practice. Because of its low learning curve, intuitive workflow, and highly accurate restorations, Dr. Delrose uses the Carestream CS Solutions CAD/CAM system. The system includes the CS 3500 camera, CS 3900 CBCT, CS 3000 milling unit, and the CS Restore software.
