I am going to admit it that I have a lot of patients that do not floss. I know that for many hygienists? out there you are ready to kick me out the profession for that statement. I say, as long as their mouths are healthy it is not a requirement for me. I do not believe in trying to stick a square peg in a round hole and my patients? like that I always seem to have a new suggestion for them. Eventually I find something that works for them and that they like using.
I have tried many products over the years to assist my patients with different options over the golden floss, but many are just not as user friendly as my patients? would like. GUM makes Soft-Picks and they are my new favorite home oral hygiene tool. Every patient that I show them to loves them. They are super thin and slide easily into even the tightest of spaces. They are used with one hand and are great for implants, orthodontics, and areas of food impaction. They are easy to carry in your pocket or your purse as they come in a clear travel case so they are convenient to use if dining out. I love that you can purchase samples for patients that are very economical and it is not a hardship for my practice to order them for me. I love them and my patient?s love them; which brings them back to my practice empowered on the path to a healthier mouth and body.
