Maybe it’s just me, however, I see more and more dental offices going the way of all medicine. In an effort to combat the rising costs of office overhead we all experience, many dentists are adopting the multi-doctor large group practice model.
This has some distinct advantages, fixed costs remain constant regardless of the number of practitioners, more treatment kept in house and camaraderie just to mention a few.
My concern, however, is that we will ultimately go the way of all medicine and the small office with the personal approach will become a thing of the past. My challenge to each of us is to never forget how it feels when someone remembers your name and cares enough to remember details about your life. Don’t lose the personal touch that drew so many of us to dentistry in the first place.
