CAESY Enterprise 5.7 includes more than 7 hours of multimedia presentations and 3 software products to provide dental offices with a way to educate their patients and market their practices. The package also includes a reception area program called Smile Channel. All of this content can be delivered via computer network, video network, or DVD. CAESY Enterprise 5.7 is a product of CAESY Education Systems, a Patterson Dental company.

Network Connection
This patient education program is delivered over a computer network. Both CAESY and the Smile Channel are loaded onto the Edge, a small server that is connected to a dental office’s local area network. According to the manufacturer, this network connection allows dental practices to show different presentations to patients simultaneously throughout the office with 1 piece of equipment. The Edge also sends a video signal of the Smile Channel to a television in the reception area. The purpose of the Smile Channel is to subtly promote the benefits of esthetic dentistry and the importance of proper oral hygiene.

Ease of Use and Training
AThe 4 dentists who evaluated CAESY Enterprise have been using some form of patient education software in their offices anywhere from less than 6 months to more than 3 years. Instructions for installation and use are provided via a downloadable PDF. In addition, support is available over the phone or through live chat with a technical support representative on the Internet. Users can also request inoffice training. The evaluators rated the training and instructions good to excellent. One evaluator commented that he would like to see a “training video on creating links and marketing.”

Quality of Presentations and Range of Topics
CAESY Enterprise has more than 7 hours of multimedia presentations, including bridges, crowns, dentures, esthetic dentistry, extractions, technology, hygiene, implants, initial visit, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontal disease, postoperative instructions, restorations, root canal, and temporomandibular disorders. Each presentation covers diagnosis, procedure, postoperative instructions, alternatives, and a photo gallery.
The dentist evaluators gave the presentation quality and range of topics high marks, with 3 excellent ratings and 1 good rating for quality and 3 excellent and 1 very good rating for topics. However, 1 evaluator noted that he would like to see “more on products I use in my practice like Perioprotect, Closys, MI paste, etc,” and that the presentations could be “more detailed on certain subjects.” And although this evaluator rated the quality of the presentations as good, he noted that they “could be even better.”

Practice Marketing
CAESY Enterprise also includes Show- Case, a tool intended to help dentists market their practices. ShowCase allows dentists to burn a CD with multimedia presentations, a dentist’s own digital images and videos, his or her own Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDF documents, CAESY printable PDF presentations, and a personal letter to patients. The evaluators gave high marks to CAESY for the ability to market the practice. Three dentists rated it as excellent and one rated it as good.

Value to Patients and Price
When asked about price and the value to their patients, the evaluators rated the product good to excellent. One dentist commented that CAESY Enterprise is “a little expensive at the beginning but well worth the return on patient acceptance of treatment plans.
