Endolase RFT

Fast and Easy Laser Root Canal Therapy

The Endolase RFT root canal therapy system can improve patient care while providing the endodontist or dentist with a new revenue-enhancing and practice-building procedure.

BIOLASE Technology, Inc announces the global launch of its new, minimally invasive Endolase RFT root canal therapy system. This system enables endodontists and dentists to perform root canal procedures faster and more effectively than conventional treatment methods. Endolase RFT includes 2 newly designed, single-use laser tips, called endoTips—1 for anterior teeth and another for posterior. Also included are instructions detailing the procedure protocol for use with the company’s Waterlase MD YSGG laser system. The Endolase RFT is the first complete laser treatment for root canal therapy that includes access, cleaning, shaping and disinfection. All such procedures can be performed using FDA-cleared laser indications, providing considerable time savings to the dentist and the patient.

The finely designed endoTips, which are approximately 2 to 3 times the width of a human hair and very flexible, are shaped so the laser energy is emitted in a radial pattern, allowing the dentist to disinfect the root cavity while protecting and preserving tooth structure. A key element of the laser therapy is that the disinfection procedure can be done quickly, in 2 to 3 minutes, compared to the 20 to 30 minutes required in traditional chemical treatments that have been performed since the 1920s. YSGG laser energy penetrates 4 times deeper into dentin and dentinal tubules than sodium hypochlorite, and its antimicrobial efficacy is backed by published articles and university studies. —Michele Brown
