All-Bond SE, a universal adhesive, works with light-cured, self-cured, and dual-cured composite materials.
Recently introduced by Bisco, All-Bond SE is said by the manufacturer to provide dentists with universal compatibility, increased bond strength and reliability, reduced postoperative sensitivity, and increased flexibility. In addition, the All- Bond SE Liner is radiopaque so that it can be seen in radiographs.
While the dentists who participated in this shortterm evaluation were not able to comment on bond strength, research has shown All-Bond SE to have excellent shear bond strength compared with other self-etch adhesives.1 According to the manufacturer, All-Bond SE was designed to provide dentists with excellent bond strength. In addition, the All-Bond SE Liner gives additional strength, improving the length and reliability of the bond.
Ease of Use
According to Bisco, the universal compatibility of All-Bond SE (it works with light-cured, self-cured, and dual-cured composites) increases a dentist’s flexibility and reduces chair time. When the 10 dentists who evaluated this product were asked to rate its ease of use, 4 rated it as excellent, 4 rated it as very good, and 2 rated it as fair. One evaluator found that though the product mixed easily, “the setting time is too quick.” This same evaluator described the product as “light sensitive.” Another evaluator described the ease of use as “straight forward…nothing complicated.” A third evaluator said that “fewer steps” is a good idea.
Uniformity of Mix
The manufacturer’s instructions indicate that once All-Bond SE is uniformly pink, it is properly mixed and ready to use. The evaluators were asked to rate the usefulness of this color change as an aid in confirming proper mix. Six evaluators rated the color change as excellent and 4 rated it as very good. One evaluator said, “I love the color change” and another called it a “brilliant idea.” A third evaluator said that the color change “helps the assistant know when it is mixed and ready for the dentist.”
Bisco says that All-Bond SE’s secure seal helps to prevent microleakage and eliminate the potential for postoperative sensitivity. When the evaluators were asked to rate postoperative sensitivity as reported by their patients, 6 rated it as excellent, 3 rated it as very good to good, and 1 did not answer the question. One evaluator said that he has received fewer reports of postoperative sensitivity by patients “following placing All-Bond SE.” Another evaluator said that the product is “very effective in this regard, particularly in exposed root areas.”
Variety of Indications
The manufacturer describes All- Bond SE as compatible with all indirect applications or with self- or dual-cure composites with no extra steps required. When the evaluators were asked to rate the product’s variety of indications, 5 rated it as excellent and 3 rated it as very good. Two evaluators answered this as “Not Applicable” because they used the product for only 1 indication. One of the evaluators who rated the product as excellent in this category said that the “compatibility has been excellent.” Another said that All-Bond SE “can be used in almost all restorative applications.”
When the evaluators were asked if they would recommend All-Bond SE to their colleagues, 5 said definitely and 4 said probably. When asked if they would purchase All-Bond SE in the future, 6 said definitely or probably. At the end of the evaluation, the dentists who participated were asked to give their overall satisfaction rating for All-Bond SE. Four evaluators rated the product as excellent, 2 rated it as very good, 3 rated it as good, and 1 rated it as fair.

Bisco, Inc introduces ALL-BOND SE, a new light-cured self-etching adhesive from Bisco that combines etching, priming and bonding in a single step. ALL-BOND SE is universal in its application, bonding light-, dual- and self-cured materials for direct and indirect restorations. ALL-BOND SE’s unique chemistry combines two components to ensure stability in the self-etch process which improves clinical performance. The proprietary formulation changes colors when the 2 components interact to ensure they are properly mixed prior to application. ALL-BOND SE effectively etches both the enamel and dentin to prevent marginal bond failures and properly seals the surface against microbial invasion. ALL-BOND SE reduces or eliminates your incidence of postoperative sensitivity.
