KODAK RVG 6100 Digital Radiography System

PracticeWorks Systems’ KODAK RVG 6100 Digital Radiography System offers the highest resolution of any digital radiography system in the industry, providing maximum precision and superior results while remaining easy to use.

Since the development of the first RVG (radiovisiography) system in 1983 at Carestream Health’s French subsidiary Trophy, KODAK’s RVG digital radiographic systems have consistently been the industry’s leaders in resolution and clarity. RVG intraoral digital radiography systems have always offered dental professionals the highest clarity and resolution available in any digital radiographic system—digital image quality comparable to KODAK Intraoral Dental Film.

The 7th generation of RVG systems, the KODAK RVG 6100 Digital Radiography System from PracticeWorks, offers clear, sharp, and detailed images, allowing dental practitioners to be confident about even the most complex diagnoses. Patients—including young children—are provided a more comfortable experience. Incorporating the KODAK RVG 6100 System into a dental practice can lead to increased efficiency, allowing dentists and their staff to spend time where it counts most— with patients.

Sensor Size and Design

RVG sensors are now available in 3 sizes to ensure the most comfortable fit and optimized image surface. KODAK RVG 6100 added a size 0 sensor for pediatric specialties. The ergonomic design of this sensor features rounded corners for increased patient comfort, which is popular with practitioners. The cable for all 3 sensor sizes is attached to the back of the sensor, and new sensor casings for all sensor sizes increase patient comfort and allow for good vertical placement and removal of the “dead zone” factor.

The size 0 sensor has made a big difference in Dr. Tamela Gough’s pediatric dental practice in Allen, Texas.1 “The zero sensor can be used by even the smallest children,” Dr. Gough said. “We had a lot of hesitation at first because we were worried that the sensors wouldn’t be small enough or that some children would be scared by sensors with a cable. But all our concerns were unfounded.” In fact, Dr. Gough notes, she kept her old imaging processors on hand expecting that there would be some children who wouldn’t accept the new sensors. “But we never had to use the old processors once since we switched to the digital system in 2007.”

Stand-Out Features

The KODAK RVG 6100 Digital Radiography System, first marketed in 2006, continues to offer the highest resolution digital radiography system available—greater than 20 line pairs per millimeter for sensor sizes 1 and 2. The KODAK RVG 6100 has myriad other stand-out features:

Less radiation. All 3 sensor sizes have increased sensitivity, which allows for decreased doses of radiation— up to 10% less for sizes 1 and 2 sensors and 40% less for size 0.

Better image capture. KODAK’s sensor technology offers greater exposure latitude so the right image is captured the first time—there’s no need to retake images.

Remote control. No mouse or keyboard intervention is needed for image capture because the sensor and software are activated by remote control.

Faster display. A high-speed USB 2 connection provides fast image display (less than 2 seconds) and minimal wait times for dentists and their patients.

Faster sensor placement. A complete set of positioners allows for proper and fast sensor placement. Improved efficiency means increased productivity for the practice.

Easy installation and sharing. Plugand- play sensors make installation easy and allow easy sharing between workstations. “Being able to have all images on the screen at one time has really helped with patient education,” Dr. Gough explains.1

User-friendly software. User-friendly KODAK Dental Imaging Software displays, processes, stores, and shares radiographs and images. This software is the same user-friendly imaging software used with other KODAK digital imaging systems to help increase productivity and decrease training time.

Software

KODAK Dental Imaging Software helps to simplify management of images, allowing the processing, archiving, and retrieval of patients’ images. Multiple images can be displayed on the screen at once, and images can be shared with colleagues and insurance companies.

Caries Detection Option

An optional component with the KODAK RVG Digital Radiography System is KODAK’s Logicon Caries Detector software package. Logicon is exclusively available for the KODAK RVG 6100 and has been clinically proven to help dentists find 20% more cavities in the dentin than traditional methods.2 Logicon Caries Detector software assists in the difficult task of diagnosing radiographs for proximal caries and helps determine whether caries are present and whether restoration is needed. A region of interest adjustment tool automatically searches to find maximum caries depth. An easyto- use zoom tool allows the user to focus on specific regions.

Finding dentin lesions that are unseen by the human eye, Logicon software is like an electronic second opinion, helping to prevent misdiagnosis of healthy teeth. The software also helps dental professionals educate and share information with patients. “Being able to show such clear images to parents and children has made a big difference in our practice,” Dr. Gough states.1 “The parents can now see what’s in their child’s mouth, and they can better understand what’s in our treatment plan.”

An interactive training wizard and Easy Steps file allows practitioners to get started quickly with Logicon Caries Detector software. A preloaded electronic user guide helps train staff members with training slideshows and audio tracks.
