A significant concern when placing mini implants in the mandible involving the mental nerve is giving the patient a “numb lip” (loss of sensation to the lip). This is especially easy to do with an edentulous jaw because of the lack of landmarks to indicate the location of the nerve.
The “Little GEM” Edentulous Mandible Implant Location Guide is simple to use, noninvasive, cold sterilizable and ensures implants are equally spaced and well ahead of the Mental Nerve. The guide relates the nerve location with a standard landmark found on all edentulous mandibles. It can be used intraorally by the clinician at time of surgery or by the lab on models to make surgical guides.
