American Tooth Industries has recently added a new line of specialty posterior teeth—Major Plus Comp Wide Functional Area teeth—which establish a motar-and-pestle effect during mastication to allow smooth gliding tooth contact in any direction from centric occlusion.
This simple contact between opposing posterior teeth narrows the occlusal table and reduces chewing pressure on the lower ridge. These teeth are wider bucco-lingually than most conventional posterior teeth and give better results, because the bulge of the buccal surface makes satisfactory contact with the cheek, reducing the amount of the food collected in the vestibules, while providing better esthetic results.
