Dental Product Shopper asked 7 dentists to evaluate
the Picasso Trio system. The items rated by the
evaluators include the system’s ease of use, speed,
and anatomical accuracy.
Ease of Use
Ease of use was rated as very important by all 7
of the evaluators when purchasing an imaging system.
When the evaluators were then asked to rate
Picasso Trio on ease of use, 6 rated it as excellent and
1 rated it as very good. One evaluator described
Picasso Trio as “very user friendly; staff was able to
manage the equipment in a short time.” Another
evaluator commented on the software’s ease of use,
saying, “The imaging software is simple to use,
which allows for a near perfect image every time.”
System Speed
According to the manufacturer, Picasso Trio has
a CT scan time of 15 seconds, a panoramic scan time
of 13 seconds, and a cephalometric scan time of 12
seconds. In addition, the reconstruction time of the
Picasso Trio is less than 2 minutes.
When the evaluators were asked to rate system
speed of the Picasso Trio, all 7 rated it as
excellent, giving it a perfect score in this
category. One evaluator said the system
offers “very fast reconstruction time.”
Another evaluator said that his “patients
appreciate less time in a [stationary]
position.”
Image Quality and Anatomical
Accuracy
The Picasso Trio provides users with
a slice thickness of 0.1 mm, compared
to medical CT scans that have a slice
thickness of 1 mm to 2 mm. According
to the manufacturer, this increased
detail and anatomical accuracy reduces
the risk of damage to delicate anatomical
structures such as the alveolar nerve.
Both image quality and anatomical
accuracy are important to these evaluators
when purchasing a digital imaging
system—6 evaluators rated these items as
very important and 1 rated them as
important. When they were asked to rate
the Picasso Trio on image quality, 6 rated
the system as excellent and 1 rated it as
very good. The same ratings occurred
when the evaluators were asked about
anatomical accuracy. One evaluator said
of the image quality, “I am constantly
amazed at how good the image quality is
when compared to my last pan/ceph
machine.” Of the anatomical accuracy,
this same evaluator said, “The anatomical
image is extremely accurate.”
Productivity and Efficiency
According to E-WOO, the 3-in-1
nature of the Picasso Trio reduced time
for scans and reconstruction, improved
image quality and anatomical accuracy,
and helped dentists increase productivity
and improve efficiency.
The 7 dentists who evaluated the
Picasso Trio were asked to rate the system
on productivity and efficiency. All 7
rated it as excellent, giving the system
another perfect score. One evaluator
said, “The pan and ceph images are
online in seconds as opposed to the 5-
minute darkroom processing time of
film.” Another evaluator said that in his
opinion “productivity is secondary to
good diagnostics and efficiency equals
productivity.” This evaluator rated
Picasso Trio as excellent in all individual
categories and overall satisfaction.

Picasso Trio to their colleagues, 6
