Medicom's Safe+Mask Sof Skin earloop mask combines optimal protection with exceptional comfort.
It's the best mask I've worn in all my years of practice'extra soft and scent-free,' said a New York hygienist in practice for 32 years.
Designed with sensitive skin in mind, the Safe+Mask Sof Skin earloop mask from Medicom is soft, lightweight, and highly breathable. The inner layer is soft and nonirritating, and it stays cool on the skin for exceptional ease and comfort.
Medicom's Safe+Mask Sof Skin mask is designed not to lint, tear, or shred. In addition, it meets all ASTM 2100 standards for everyday low-barrier (level 1) protection.
Manufacturer Description: An adjustable nosepiece helps to customize Safe+Mask Sof Skin's fit, and the earloops are soft, stretchy, and latex-free.
Evaluator Feedback: Eight of the evaluators commented on size and/or fit. One hygienist, who rated all features as excellent, noted that 'some of our dentists felt the mask was too small for their faces,' and another suggested 'a smaller size for those of us with smaller faces/heads.'
A hygienist who 'liked the mask and felt it was very protective'fit me well' said her coworkers 'complained about the length of the extra loop material, saying the loops were too short.' Another hygienist who 'can't stand anything tight around my ears' cited 'overall comfort, especially around the ears' as the feature she liked most with the Sof Skin masks.
A hygienist who rated all features as very good said, 'It stuck out a little too far where the ear loop was connected, which bothered my field of vision.' The same evaluator said that they 'would have liked the nose pinch to be a little more firm.'
Other comments included, 'fits nicely around the nose and side,' as well as 'comfortable and fits extremely well,' and 'my hygienist found them a bit uncomfortable, especially under the chin, but my chairside assistant and I found them excellent.'
Another evaluator remarked, 'All the women who used it, including myself, liked the comfort of the ear loop length, the fit around the nose, and the feel of more protection.'
Manufacturer Description: The white cellulose-blend inner layer of the Safe+Mask Sof Skin mask is extra soft and dye-free to leave the skin feeling clean and dry.
Evaluator Feedback: A hygienist who rated comfort with the masks as fair said it was 'not soft enough.' A second hygienist evaluator called the Sof Skin mask 'much softer' than other masks, and a third hygienist said that it was 'extra soft.'
Another hygienist called it 'just a little more stiff,' adding, 'That's the only change I recommend. It's right up there with my favorite [competing] mask.' One hygienist, who has been in practice for more than 20 years, said it 'didn't make my face itch as some do.' Overall, the masks earned a 4.1 rating for comfort.
Evaluator Feedback: One dentist, who called it much better than similar masks, called it 'a little heavier than others' and another called it 'too heavy/thick.' Another evaluator said that, because of the masks's thickness, 'It was evident that it was a much better quality mask than the brand that we use.'
An evaluator with 25 years of experience in dentistry said, 'I could actually breathe through this mask. And it didn't fog up my loupes.' Another added, 'With many masks I found myself pinching the bottom of them by my chin to make a 'breathing space', but found I didn't need to do this with these masks.'
Seven evaluators rated Safe+Mask Sof Skin as much better than similar masks, and 1 rated it as somewhat better.
When asked what could be improved with the Safe+Mask Sof Skin masks, one evaluator said, 'Nothing. It's a great product.'
