Septocaine (Articaine HCl and Epinephrine) Injection is a local anesthetic, made by Septodont Inc., used in both straightforward and intricate dental procedures. Effective analgesia is achieved quickly with little wait (between 1-9 minutes). For infiltration injections, Septocaine will last about 60 minutes and for nerve blocks, Septocaine will last about 120 minutes. Formula contains no methylparaben or latex to avert allergic reactions. Septocaine is available with epinephrine 1:100,000 (ideal for operative or surgical procedures when improved visualization of the surgical field is wanted) or with epinephrine 1:200,000 (ideal for most routine dental procedures).

A 9-year-old male patient presented with throbbing pain on tooth No. 13, which had an old amalgam. I first applied Hygenic Endo-Ice spray (COLTENE) to the tooth, recording response/recovery times. They were both abnormal. I also percussed the tooth, which was positive for sensitivity. With these results, I deemed the tooth to have irreversible pulpitis with acute periapical pathology.
