This single-use syringe tip helps protect patients from cross contamination
TotalCare recently introduced Seal-Tight disposable air/water syringe tips. According to the manufacturer, these tips differ from conventional tips because they guarantee dry air on demand and increase staff productivity.
Staff Satisfaction
In a departure from some of the other product reviews, the evaluators for the Seal-Tight syringe tips included both dentists and hygienists (4 dentists, 4 hygienists). Both groups of evaluators gave the product good ratings in all categories. In fact, when asked specifically about staff satisfaction, 1 hygienist evaluator said, “Everyone wants to use them in my office. The dentist especially wants them for sealants and composite restorations to keep a dry field.” Another evaluator exclaimed, “We love this tip!”
Dry Air Delivery
TotalCare emphasizes the ability of the Seal-Tight syringe tips to deliver dry air on demand. When the dentist and hygienist evaluators were asked to rate the importance of dry air delivery when purchasing a syringe tip, 6 rated it as very important and 2 rated it as important. When the evaluators were asked to rate the Seal-Tight tips on dry air delivery—6 rated them as excellent and 2 rated them as very good. One of the evaluators commented, “These are actually the best I’ve ever tried. I know the dentist(s) will want them in (their) rooms.”
Tip Installation and Removal
TotalCare claims that because the Seal-Tight tips have easy-to-install push-button converters, it is easier and faster to change tips compared with other syringes. When the evaluators were asked what they thought of the tip installation and removal time, they gave the product high marks. For ease of tip installation and removal, the evaluators rated them as good to excellent; for time for changing tips, 6 evaluators rated them as excellent and 2 rated them as very good. According to 1 of the evaluators it took “only 5 seconds” to change the tips.
Tip Flexibility
When the hygienist and dentist evaluators were asked about the ability to bend and flex the tip to a desired angle, many of them commented that this was not something they normally did, but they gave the Seal-Tight tips good to excellent ratings. One of the evaluators noted that “I don’t usually bend my tips, but I tried it just to see how it would work, and I was very impressed. It held its shape perfectly!”
Cheek Retraction
When asked about the importance of tip strength for cheek retraction when purchasing syringe tips, 7 evaluators said it was important or very important (1 said it wasn’t important at all). After using Seal-Tight syringe tips in their practices, 6 evaluators said they were excellent, 1 said they were very good, and 1 rated them as good. One of the evaluators stated that “these are the best syringe tips for cheek retraction I have used.” Another commented that they are “very rigid” and that they “didn’t bend.”
Overall Satisfaction
The dentist and hygienist evaluators were asked if they would recommend Seal-Tight syringe tips to colleagues and contacts within the dental profession, and 6 said they definitely would. They also said that they would definitely or probably purchase the syringe tips in the future. The overall satisfaction rating from all 8 of the evaluators was good to excellent.
