Can’t believe it’s October already?! Yes, it’s time for fall colors, cozy sweatshirts, apple cider, and Halloween haunts! It is also National Dental Hygiene Month, and, for the 6th year in a row, the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA) and Wrigley have teamed up to increase public awareness of the importance of good oral health.
This year’s focus is on the “Daily 4” – the 4 main components of good oral health maintenance – brushing twice a day, flossing every day, rinsing with antimicrobial mouthwash, and chewing sugar free gum.
Dentists and hygienists, please encourage your patients to “Do the Daily 4.” In addition, start a conversation with them on how good oral health care habits contribute to improved overall health, not just improved oral health.
ADHA President Jill Rethman, RDH, BA, outlines why National Dental Hygiene Month – and starting the conversation with your patients about disease prevention – is so important. Watch the video here.
Speaking of Halloween, consider participating in the 2015 Halloween Candy Buyback program!
