Alpha-Bond® SE is a 7th generation self-etch adhesive formulated to bond to multiple substrates for both direct and indirect bonding procedures. It's a universal adhesive that has the bond strength (37MPa to dentin) and durability of a total-etch adhesive while eliminating the etching step.

Fifteen clinicians participated in this Dental Product Shopper product evaluation and rated their overall satisfaction with Alpha-Bond SE, along with specific attributes such as ease of use, reduced postoperative sensitivity, versatility, and product performance with both direct and indirect restorations.
Ease of Use

Evaluator Feedback: "What I liked best about this product was the ease of using a 1 bottle system", noted an evaluator with 27 years of experience. Four other dentists also said that "ease of use" was the feature they liked best about Alpha-Bond SE. A dentist from New York City liked that there were ?not a lot of steps, [and it was] easy to learn,? and an Ohio evaluator commented that he liked that he "can easily see [the] film after drying."
Other comments regarding ease of use were, "I really liked the handling characteristics of this product," and, "[It was] easy to dispense." Three evaluators mentioned that they would like to see the adhesive available in individual doses, including a second Ohio dentist who recommended a "slight color tint to be able to see the product better."
Evaluator Feedback: The dentists asked each patient about postoperative sensitivity and reported their feedback to Dental Product Shopper. "Patients that had restorations with Alpha-Bond SE as the adhesive reported no postoperative sensitivity," said a New Jersey evaluator. Two other dentists specifically mentioned that, "no postoperative sensitivity" was the feature they liked best, while a Texas evaluator commented, "[The] verdict [is] still out on postoperative sensitivity." A dentist with 21 years of experience in dentistry reported, "[The] reduction in patient postoperative sensitivity" was what he liked best about the product.
Performance and Versatility

Evaluator Feedback: "The product adaptability to various techniques [is] my favorite attribute of the product," commented a Pennsylvania evaluator. When asked what evaluators liked best about Alpha-Bond SE, comments included, "[It has] good adhesion," and, "[It] seems to work for everything." One evaluator would like to see the adhesive's handling improved, suggesting Alpha Bond SE was "too viscous" and "seems a bit thick."
A Florida evaluator, who rated product performance as very good for both direct and indirect restorations, summarized her experience with the adhesive by saying, "[Alpha-Bond SE is] not thick, able to apply easily, [with] excellent viscosity."
Regarding overall satisfaction with Alpha-Bond SE, an evaluator with 21 years of experience in dentistry said, "I cannot legitimately find any fault with the product whatsoever." When asked what they would like to see improved about Alpha-Bond SE, evaluators said "nothing" could be improved.
Thirteen of the evaluators would definitely or probably recommend Alpha-Bond SE to colleagues, and 11 would definitely or probably purchase the adhesive in the future. Pennsylvania evaluator who rated his overall satisfaction as excellent summed up his experience: "Alpha-Bond SE is an amazing product especially at the market price point at which it is offered."
