With all the small equipment, instruments, and materials that need to be located on or around the delivery unit in today’s busy dental practice, space is at a premium. If there were a way for clinicians to save room in this crowded area, it would be a huge advantage.
With this in mind, NSK has introduced the NLZ electric micromotor system, which delivers all the specs of a premium electric motor with the highest standards, yet in the smallest package possible. Offering flexibility for different installation styles, the NLZ allows the user of any air-driven handpiece to convert to electric and expand the possibilities of dental treatment.
“NLZ’s smaller micromotor provides easier handling and great balance when held in hand, causing less fatigue on the hands and shoulders of dentists,” said Alfred Hayrapetian, Product Manager, NSK America. “The smaller head size of the handpiece also provides excellent access and visibility inside the patient’s mouth for hard-to-reach areas.”
Every part of the NLZ has been made more compact to minimize the space needed for installation, which offers a separate control unit from the main unit. The main unit fits under the counter, and because only the control unit is visible, the area around the dentist chair remains neat and tidy.
“With so many different types of dental units in different shapes, styles, and sizes available in the market, NLZ has the unique capability of being mounted and installed in all of them. Its split form with 2 different types of brackets—allows technicians to be creative and mount it on any type of delivery unit,” Hayrapetian added.
NLZ E also provides cutting-edge features applicable to a wide range of endodontic treatments with enhanced comfort and safety. NLZ Endo, a newly developed reciprocating electric attachment, builds on NSK’s existing handpiece technology. As a result of this new feature, it is now possible to correctly transmit reciprocating actions for a smooth endodontic treatment with WaveOne Gold files.
“As far as functionality, with 4.2 Ncm of torque in General mode, the NLZ-E model can be used for all kinds of restorative high-speed and low-speed treatments as well as endo operations, including rotary, reciprocating, and WaveOne Gold files. In Endo mode, torque range is 0.3 to 6 Ncm, which supports all kinds of major files available in the market,” Hayrapetian said.

Well aware of this dilemma, NSK has introduced the NLZ electric micromotor system, which enables practitioners to more easily convert to electric and expand treatment possibilities. The ...
