A local anesthetic for infiltration and nerve block, 4% Citanest Forte Dental with epinephrine 1:200,000 (prilo- caine HCl and epinephrine injection, USP) produces effective anesthesia with quick onset, optimal duration, and less toxicity than other amide-based local anesthetics. The anesthetic is available in boxes of fifty 1.8 mL cartridges.

Onset and Duration
Manufacturer Description: When used for infiltration anesthesia, Citanest Forte’s time of onset averages less than 2 minutes, with a duration of soft tissue anesthesia of ap- proximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. When used for infe- rior alveolar nerve block, the average time of onset is less than 3 minutes, average duration of soft-tissue anesthesia is approximately 3 hours.
Evaluator Feedback: All 11 evaluators rated both onset and duration as excellent, very good, or good, with comments such as, “It has a fairly rapid onset of action,” and, “Duration was highly satisfactory.” When asked what he’d like to see improved, a dentist who gave the anesthetic an overall rating of very good said,“[I’d like a] longer duration.”
