SS White expands its line of Great White Z Diamonds to include several specialty kits designed for specific procedures

Cutting Speed & Efficiency

With great cutting speed and efficiency, the Great White Z Diamonds are suitable for crown and bridge adjustment and removal, for endodontic access through zirconia, and for finishing laboratory copings. “The Great White Z Diamonds had excellent concentricity and cutting power. They provide very precise cutting and shaping, and the diamonds held their cutting ability nicely,” shared Dr. Jeff Kosoris.

The Great White Z Diamonds provided “very rapid adjusting of zirconia” for Dr. Louis Sterling, and Dr. James Black liked the speed and efficiency of the burs and found that “the cutting edge sectioned zirconia easily.” He added, “Great White Z Diamonds are convenient and effective for removing crowns.” For Dr. Jacob Scheiner, “cutting through a zirconium crown in a timely fashion” would often result in “the burs wearing out one after the other,” which was one reason why he wanted to try the Great White Z Diamonds. Compared to other diamonds, Dr. Scheiner said Great White Z “works in a timely manner,” and he was impressed with their ability to “do the job quickly and smoothly.”

With a variety of shapes, diameters, head lengths, overall lengths, and fine and medium grits, the Great White Z Diamond line includes a bur for almost every restorative need. “The range of shapes was quite useful,” commented Dr. Lance Huthwaite, and Dr. Marc Malatesta noted, “They provide a variety of shapes to help cut through zirconia.” In agreement was Dr. Daniel Florian, who said his favorite feature was “the different assortment of shapes available.”

Describing a specific case, Dr. Niemann shared, “I had to access through two screw-retained zirconia implant crowns and used the round/ball shape. It made the access much easier than previous burs I have used.” Great White Z Diamonds provide “smooth operation with precise control for excellent preparations, and they have great cutting efficiency without vibration,” disclosed Dr. Kosoris. “The ability to create a fine finish line was very effective for veneer preparations, and the control was excellent for subgingival margin shaping,” he added. Time Savings

According to SS White, using Great White Z Diamonds will save dentists time when removing zirconia crowns, compared to other diamonds, which was confirmed by several of the evaluating dentists. “I found it surprising that I could tell the difference with these burs in both time savings and precise results,” confided Dr. Kosoris, and Dr. Scheiner appreciated that the diamonds “work in a timely manner compared to the others I have tried.” Stating that it previously took too long to cut off zirconia crowns and bridges with other diamond burs, Dr. Huthwaite said that using the Great White Z Diamonds “made cutting through zirconia faster and easier.” While Dr. Florian thought the burs did not facilitate faster crown removal than his current burs, Dr. Black said that the Great White Z Diamonds lessened his chair time. When asked if she would recommend Great White Z to colleagues, Dr. Kristen Joyce replied, “Yes, they work as well as or better than other diamonds I have used.”
