CX-Plus combines prolonged working time, superior handling and high compressive strength in an easy-to-use capsule formulation.

 

When asked for his impression of CX-Plus Capsules, a Tennessee dentist who called the material much better than similar luting cements said, "I] enjoyed using and testing this product, considering how easy it was to handle and use." The same evaluator, in practice for 11 years, rated all features as excellent and said he would definitely purchase CX-Plus and recommend it to colleagues.

Indicated for cementing crowns, inlays, long-span bridges, and orthodontic appliances, this enhanced glass ionomer luting cement from Shofu features prolonged working time, superior handling and a compressive strength of 149 MPa, as well as high-level fluoride release and radiopacity. The 13 dentists who evaluated CX-Plus rated features such as ease of use, patient sensitivity, and handling.

Ease of Use

Manufacturer Description: CX-Plus Capsules facilitate ease of use with simple application, prolonged work/set time, and easy clean-up. 

Evaluator Feedback: Comments about ease of use included, 'easy to activate,' 'very easy to use,' and 'easy to clean excess away.' An evaluator who gave the capsules an overall rating of very good noted that it, 'took a while to train my assistants to activate and mix.'

All 13 evaluators rated delivery/placement as excellent or very good. When asked what he liked most, a dentist who rated the product as excellent said, The product being in a capsule [means] always having the correct powder-to-liquid ratio. When asked what he'd liked to see improved, the same evaluator noted that, "the smooth texture of the capsule may be a little slippery if wet."

Patient Sensitivity 

Manufacturer Description: CX-Plus features low levels of acid erosion, as well as resistance to water contamination, making the material exceptionally durable in moist environments.

Evaluator Feedback: Patient sensitivity was rated as excellent or very good by 10 of the 11 evaluators who rated this feature. A dentist in practice for 28 years noted that the correct powder-to-liquid ratio enabled by the capsule ?is important to avoid sensitivity if too wet.? This evaluator said he would definitely recommend the material to colleagues and would probably purchase it for his practice.

Handling 

Manufacturer Description: CX-Plus Capsules provide superior handling, with low film thickness that optimizes marginal integrity and a work/set time of 4 minutes and 10 seconds from the start of mixing.

Evaluator Feedback: One-hundred percent of the evaluators identified handling as a very important or important consideration when selecting a luting cement, with most (62%) identifying this feature as very important. 

With comments such as, 'handling characteristics fit well in our practice,' "[I] enjoyed using and testing this product, considering how easy it was to handle and use," and "I like the self-priming characteristics," 12 of the 13 evaluators rated both handling and working/setting time as excellent or very good. "The handling is great," noted a dentist who said he would probably buy the material and recommend it to colleagues. "I can shape it the way I want it and it isn?t too sticky."

Overall Satisfaction 

With comments such as, 'overall, a very good, easy-to-use cement,' 12 of the 13 evaluators rated CX-Plus as excellent or very good. Eleven said they would definitely or probably purchase the cement and all said they would definitely or probably recommend it to colleagues. 'CX-Plus is definitely worth trying,' said a California dentist who rated it as very good. When asked what he liked most about the product, a Utah dentist in practice for 29 years said, 'Everything.'
