BIO-C TEMP
A ready-to-use bioceramic tricalcium silicate paste for intracanal dressing has unique properties that ensure long root canal contact and effective infection resolution
Patients may cringe when they hear the words root canal, but even worse is when they’re finally undergoing the procedure and are told that their root canal can’t be completed that day. While it might be the last thing a patient wants to hear, sometimes a root canal needs to be halted until an infection can be treated and resolved. When that happens, Angelus’ BIO-C TEMP can help ensure that the infection is treated quickly and completely.
This bio-ceramic intracanal dressing is a temporary medication used between visits to resolve infection until healing is sufficient enough to complete the root canal. Because of its low solubility, BIO-C TEMP remains in contact with the root canal for long durations. During that time, it provides continuous and gradual release of hydroxyl ions that increase pH and encourage healthy restoration of the affected region. Its indications are the same as regular calcium hydroxide pastes.
Of course, it’s not just the patient who’s anxious for an infection to resolve so treatment can proceed. Searching for “a reliable intracanal medicament with excellent attributes to ensure successful root canal treatments of necrotic and retreated teeth,” Dr. Edward Lew found exactly what he was looking for with BIO-C TEMP. When retreating a patient with an active infection on the mesial buccal root of a molar, he applied “BIO-C TEMP as an intracanal dressing, which helped in its healing,” and said, “So far, the outcome has been successful. BIO-C TEMP provided predictable results and very minimal postoperative discomfort, which created a pleasant patient experience.”
Ease of Placement
Designed for easy placement and removal, BIO-C TEMP comes ready to use in a premixed syringe with a precurved applicator tip that delivers the material directly into the canal. The precurved tips “made it easier to direct the flow of material to the apex of the root,” shared Dr. Grace Chu, and Dr. Craig Ratner said they “helped with delivery into canal orifices.“ Suggesting more length and flexibility in the tips, Dr. Lucynda Raben said the material “was very easy to place and not messy,” and Dr. Jason Wetmore called it “easy to apply and easy to remove.” Agreeing that the material was simple to place, Dr. Jonathan Dubin found it difficult to clean out of the canals.
Viscosity & Flowability
Because its properties prevent it from setting in the canal, BIO-C TEMP can be used as an interappointment dressing and is easy to remove. It also has high radiopacity for excellent radiographic visualization. BIO-C TEMP is a “great between-appointment medicament with good handling properties and biocompatibility,” said Christopher Greenwaldt, DMD. “It flows incredibly well and is also controllable. It shows up clearly on radiographs without any signs of voids, so you know the product is adapting well to canal walls. It works much better than conventional calcium hydroxide materials.”
“Always looking for a better solution to save teeth,” Dr. Raben said BIO-C TEMP’s flowability gave her “high confidence in canal saturation, which, in turn, will hopefully lead to more positive long-term success in necrotic pulpally involved teeth.” Noting that it was easy to apply BIO-C TEMP as an intracanal medicament, Dr. Bruce Schulman appreciated its “ease of use to fi ll canals apically” and found it “much more radiopaque than calcium hydroxide.” Suggesting improved radiopacity and decreased flowability, Dr. Chu said, “I did use it for a 3-rooted premolar and was able to fi ll the 3 canals easily.”

Illumination & Magnification
UltiView Lite’s precision optics, coupled with the Micro LED’s superior beam uniformity, color accuracy, and patent-pending multi-lens optics, produce an optimal workflow. “The magnification was crisp and clear, and the field of vision was perfect,” said first-time headlight user Abbatessa. Describing the loupe/ light combination as easy to use, she explained, “With pediatric patients it was easier to work with the light attachment because it just moves right along with the children.” Mesimer “definitely loved the light” and said, “It was so nice not to blind myself.” Describing the illumination as “very powerful and precise” and the view as “very clear,” Dr. Pedram Mastour said the light and loupes “worked great” while doing multiple extractions on a patient. “The only thing I’d change is having more brightness options,” said Dr. Benjamin.
Overall Satisfaction
“For an entry-level loupe, this one is exceptional,” declared Dr. Benjamin, who believes that her dental students will benefit from the good posture encouraged by these loupes. “The loupes provide greater clarity and are easy to apply to everyday practice,” noted Dr. McIntosh, who said he and his students “valued our time using these glasses as an alternative to the other brand we used.” Dr. Nguyen was “very happy with the quality and function of the loupes and light,” and Dr. Mastour called them “great products for better visibility in all dental procedures.”
