Primo Temporary Crown and Bridge Material
Primo temporary crown and bridge material quickly produces strong, accurate, and esthetic temporary restorations.
"I've tried [other temporary materials] and have used a competitive acrylic for many years. This product is far superior," said a Michigan dentist in practice for 28 years.
When asked for his opinion of TriState Dental's Primo temporary crown and bridge material, a Tennessee dentist with 31 years of experience said, "It caused a lot of my patients to say, 'Do I have to have this taken off' It has worked so well!??"
Primo is a syringeable, microfilled composite material that produces strong, accurate, and highly esthetic temporary restorations in less time than it takes to create a lab temp.
Handling and Setting Time
Manufacturer Description: Each package of Primo contains a 16-g cartridge, which fits any 10:1 gun, and 6 mixing tips. Rapid intraoral setting produces ultra-rapid results, including when used with VPS material to make fast and accurate temporaries. Primo flows well and trims easily, while minimizing margin defects and bubbles.
Evaluator Feedback: All 15 dentists who evaluated the material rated handling as excellent, very good, or good, and several identified handling/ease of use as one of the features they liked most. Remarks included, "quick and efficient," "I love the ease of use," "the product was easy to handle and use," and, "I loved the way the margins could be quickly trimmed and finished." A dentist in practice for 34 years, who gave the material an overall rating of excellent, noted that, "the ability of the material to flow into gingival areas where the moisture is, is superior to the [provisional material] I've been using."
Setting/working time was rated as excellent, very good, or good by all 15 evaluators. "I was unaware when my assistant switched products. While using it I commented that it set up faster and polished easier than usual," noted a dentist who gave the material an overall rating of very good. Another evaluator reported that it "set quicker to a final set than the product I currently use."
Polishability and Esthetics
Manufacturer Description: Formulated to produce highly esthetic results, Primo is available in shades A1, A2, A3, A3.5, B1, and Bleach, and the 0.44% shrinkage rate ensures a precise fit.
Evaluator Feedback: All 15 evaluators rated both polishability and esthetics as excellent, very good, or good, including a prosthodontist who noted that it "easily polished after 5 minutes post-mixing," and a dentist who reported that "it was easy to add to, finish, and polish, a very nice material." A dentist who reported that he would definitely purchase the product and recommend it to colleagues said, "The oxygen inhibition layer was not as slippery as other products I have used, and I could get an easy polish with a pumice wheel." A dentist who gave the material an overall rating of very good said, "Good esthetics. I was able to get a pretty good shine after polishing it, which patients appreciated." Another evaluator commented that, "it's a bit more flexible but not as polishable, so I would likely only use it for posterior FPDs."
Strength
Manufacturer Description: Primo provides flexural strength up to 2 times higher than that of similar products. Defects can be easily repaired via direct bonding.
Evaluator Feedback: With comments such as, "durability seems quite good," and, "no temporaries broke," 14 evaluators rated strength as excellent, very good, or good. Acknowledging the need for longer follow-up, several other evaluators identified strength as among their favorite features, including a dentist in practice for 28 years, who cited "strength, even when trimming thin margins, and the ability to repair" as the characteristics she liked most.
