Bluephase Style is capable of polymerizing all current photoinitiators and materials.
When asked what they liked best about Ivoclar Vivadent's Bluephase Style LED curing light, 8 of 11 evaluators named ergonomics. An evaluator with 30 years of experience in dentistry stated that he was "very, very happy with this product."
Bluephase Style's polywave LED curing lights achieve an optimal broadband spectrum of 385 nm to 515 nm, similar to the spectrum of halogen lights. Therefore, Bluephase Style is suitable for polymerizing all current photoinitiators and materials without any restrictions.
Eleven dentists participated in this Dental Product Shopper evaluation of Bluephase Style, rating features such as size/weight, design, and ergonomics.
Size/Weight
Manufacturer Description: While conventional LED devices are available either as a pistol or a pen, Bluephase Style combines the 2 so it can be held either way. According to Ivoclar Vivadent, with the curing light's low weight and balanced weight distribution, strain exerted on the hand and arm is reduced, regardless of hand size.
Evaluator Feedback: An evaluator from Nashville, TN, with 38 years of experience said the product "is especially good for our assistants and associates with smaller hands." This same evaluator said he would definitely purchase Bluephase Style in the future and recommend it to his colleagues.
Design
Manufacturer Description: Cordless curing light operation ensures maximum mobility in the dental practice. Bluephase Style's Click & Cure function enables clinicians to avoid wait times in case the battery has run out. With one click, users can connect the handpiece to the power cord of the charging base.
Evaluator Feedback: A dentist in practice for 10 years who rated all features of Bluephase Style as excellent said the feature that she liked most was the "design and size of [the] tip." Another evaluator with 25 years of experience in dentistry stated that he liked, "The size and shape. Patients also like how user-friendly the light is and they seem less intimidated."
When asked what he would like to see improved about the product, one evaluator, who rated design as good said he would like the activation button moved to another spot.
Ergonomics
Manufacturer Description: According to the manufacturer, Bluephase Style features a compact and ergonomic shape that fits the hands of all clinicians more comfortably than previous versions.
Evaluator Feedback: "[Bluephase Style] is lightweight, slim, and easy to handle," said a Framingham, MA, dentist who cited size/weight and design as his favorite features. An evaluator from Nashville, TN, added, "[It was] light and [had] good ergonomics." Ergonomics was rated as excellent or very good by 90% of the evaluators.
