Johnson-Promident's Clear Blue Digi 2.0 LED Curing Light is portable, powerful, and practical

A dentist from Wailuku, HI, whose overall satisfaction with the Clear Blue Digi 2.0 curing light was excellent commented that the unit is "well designed [and] easy to use." The Clear Blue Digi 2.0 from Johnson-Promident is a high-performance LED cordless curing light that features 3 working modes and the ability to set exposure times for any clinical protocol. With power levels up to 1,200 mW/cm2, the compact, lightweight curing light emits light in a spectrum of 430 nm to 480 nm wavelengths to quickly and efficiently solidify any brand of composite resin.

Ten dentists participated in this Dental Product Shopper evaluation of the Clear Blue Digi 2.0 LED Curing Light, rating and commenting on attributes such as ease of use, curing time, ergonomics, and ease of access.

Curing Time

Manufacturer Description: The Clear Blue Digi 2.0 curing light offers 3 modes: "strong, ramp up, and pulse" and 4 exposure times of 5, 10, 15, and 20 seconds.

Evaluator Feedback: When asked what she liked best about the light, one evaluator with 26 years of experience in dentistry said that she liked the "good curing time," and that the light was "quiet."

A Santa Monica, CA, evaluator said he liked best that the "curing times were easily changed."

Ergonomics

Manufacturer Description: The Clear Blue Digi 2.0 curing light features a compact, lightweight body and cordless operation for all-day convenience and ease of use.

Evaluator Feedback: A dentist who would like to see the light's ergonomics improved explained that the "start button was very difficult to locate without looking directly at it." This same evaluator, who has been a dentist for more than 40 years, liked best the "size of the unit and lack of electrical cord."

Ease of Use and Features

Manufacturer Description: The Clear Blue Digi 2.0 curing light is cordless and portable, with 3 working modes and the ability to set exposure times for any procedure. It also can be used with a power cord attached if the lithium-ion battery is running low and needs to be recharged.

Evaluator Feedback: Regarding ease of use and features of the Clear Blue Digi 2.0 curing light, comments ranged from "no battery problems at all" to "very quiet and easy to handle." An evaluator with 37 years of experience in dentistry commented, "There should be a beep at the start of cure, and it should be louder." This evaluator called his favorite feature of the product the "portability."

A Michigan-based dentist said, "The unit seems easy to disinfect," adding, "Stainless steel seemed to repel fingerprints/ composite better than plastic models."

The evaluators were then asked to rate the versatility of the features of the Clear Blue Digi 2.0. A dentist from DeLand, FL, liked the "adjustable settings" the best along with 2 others. Three evaluators commented that they liked the cordless feature the best, while 3 others liked the "quietness" the best.

Ease of Access

Evaluator Feedback: A West Virginia evaluator said, "[The light] works well at any angle that you need to get to." When asked what he would like to see improved about the product, a dentist with 28 years experience said he would like "better access to posterior teeth," and a few other evaluators agreed.

Overall Satisfaction

When the evaluators were asked if they would recommend the Clear Blue Digi 2.0 curing light to colleagues, 3 evaluators said definitely, and 3 said probably.
