When asked what they liked best about TriCom Dental Products's VacuClear, 8 of 9 evaluators named ease of use. An evaluator with 14 years of experience described it as "very easy to use and gets the job done well."
When main PVC line walls are filled with bio-film, buildup, fluorides, and other debris, pumps experience strain as they attempt to provide full, positive suction. VacUClear assures complete removal of these materials while the Invizo-Guard, a proprietary solution, in the product leaves a residual protection that coats the lines with a film that deters buildup.
Nine dentists participated in this Dental Product Shopper evaluation of VacUClear, rating such features as ease of use, effectiveness, and ease of maintenance.
Ease of Use
Manufacturer Description: According to the manufacturer, the initial stage 1 treatment of VacUClear will remove all accumulation, alleviating vacuum pump strain, leaving the system fresh and with free-flowing positive suction.
Evaluator Feedback: An evaluator from Rockville, MD, with 33 years of experience who noted that VacUClear is much better than similar shocking systems, called the product "easy to use and as effective as any product that we previously used." This same evaluator said he would definitely purchase it in the future and recommend it to his colleagues.
Effectiveness of Time-Released Process
Manufacturer Description: VacUClear's time-released, self-activating chemical treatment works throughout the workday; not at the end of the day when bio-film and other accumulation have settled in the main lines. VacUClear also claims to eliminate maximum strain on overworked vacuum pumps.
Evaluator Feedback: A dentist in practice for 9 years who rated all features of VacUClear as excellent said, "I was surprised by its effectiveness since our suction has always been somewhat weak even with the use of similar products." Another evaluator with 32 years of practice experience stated that, "[It] seems to clean better; effervescence is very effective."
When asked what they would like to see improved about the product, one evaluator, who rated ease of use as excellent recommended, "[A] smaller pellet size for smaller suction filters." Another evaluator suggested, "having a variety of strengths because extent of evacuation needs do vary." All 9 evaluators rated effectiveness of the time-released process (compared to end-of-day vacuuming) as excellent or very good.
Ease of Maintenance
Manufacturer Description: VacUShock is a highly concentrated tablet that removes old-aged accumulation and eliminates vacuum-pump strain. VacUClear is a time-released vacuum tablet that activates when the H or L speed line is used, neutralizing and cleaning bio-film and cross-contamination. VacUClear maintenance tablets work during the day until the end of the day, saving time and money. At the end of the workday, simply turn off the vacuum system.
Evaluator Feedback: "It mostly eliminates the need for manual cleaning," said a Miami, FL, dentist who cited ease of use and ease of maintenance as his favorite features. An evaluator from Cordova, TN, added that, "It cleans up the lines very thoroughly." Ease of maintenance (compared to daily cleaning) was rated as excellent by 89% of the evaluators.
Overall Satisfaction
Eight dentists called VacUClear much or somewhat better than similar products, with comments such as, "Cleans thoroughly," "easy to use," and "more effective than our other methods." A dentist in practice for 33 years said, "I wish I had used this product earlier."
