Digital Sensor Sleeves
TrollBags’ soft texture and lack of sharp edges enhance patient comfort during x-ray procedures.
Now available from TrollDental, TrollBag digital sensor hygiene sheaths are designed to improve patient comfort during x-rays. Unlike stiff sensor bags with sharp seams, TrollBags’ soft texture and lack of sharp edges enhance patient comfort, reducing the stress of dental x-rays.
The manufacturer describes TrollBag sensor sleeves as easy to apply and remove, as well as safe, strong, and hygienic. TrollBags come in medium and extra-large sizes.
In this Dental Product Shopper review, 4 dentists and 5 hygienists were asked to evaluate TrollBags. They rated and commented on such features as ease of application and removal, strength, and patient reaction to TrollBags’ design and taste.
Eight of the 9 evaluators described ease of application as a very important characteristic when purchasing sensor sleeves. Ease of removal was called very important by 7 evaluators.
Ease of applying TrollBags was rated as excellent by 7 evaluators and as very good to good by 2. One evaluator reported “great fit without breakage” and another said they “slide on easily with no hassle.” One of the evaluators reported that the small sensor sleeves were “difficult to get over [the particular] xray sensor [we use].”
When asked about ease of removal, 5 of the evaluators rated TrollBags as excellent and 4 rated them as very good. One evaluator noted that they “stretch when pulling off because of their elasticity.” Another evaluator said the sleeves “rip off when needed, making clean-up a breeze!”
Strength
Six evaluators reported that strength is a very important consideration when purchasing sensor sleeves, and 3 evaluators described this characteristic as important. When asked about the strength of TrollBags, 1 evaluator said the sleeves “slipped off the sensors [we use] too easily.”
Three other evaluators reported positive findings related to strength. One of these evaluators reported having ”no problem with breakage or leaking” and another said the sleeves “held up for full-mouth series with no rips or tears.” The third of these evaluators was “amazed at the strength and softness.”
Patient Reaction (Comfort and Taste)
The evaluators were asked to give their opinions on patient reaction to both comfort and taste. When asked to evaluate patient reaction to TrollBags’ soft texture and lack of sharp edges, 1 evaluator said it was “great that the edges aren’t sharp…no thick seam” and another called the sleeves “very soft,” adding that “patients have no issues with sharp corners.”
The manufacturer states that Troll - Bags, unlike latex sensor sleeves, are tasteless. Patient reaction to taste was rated as excellent by 5 evaluators and as very good or good by 4. One evaluator said “the plastic has no adverse taste” and another evaluator reported that “no one noticed any taste.”
Overall Satisfaction
When asked to evaluate staff satisfaction with Trollbags, 5 evaluators rated them as excellent and 4 rated them as very good to good. One evaluator said, “They don’t fit the sensor [we use] tightly, so we’re limited regarding the type of tabs we have to use (we like the stick-ons and they just don’t work with these sleeves). I used them over our old sleeve and tab. We could therefore reuse the old sleeve and tab and replace the soft sleeve only.” Five evaluators described the Troll - Bags as much better than similar sensor sleeves. Five of the evaluators said they would definitely purchase the sleeves in the future and would definitely recommend them to colleagues. Overall satisfaction with TrollBags was rated as excellent by 4 evaluators, as very good by 3, as good by 1, and as fair by 1. One evaluator said, “We love the product and will order more.”
