VOCO?s x-tra base is a flowable, self-leveling base liner composite that allows increments of up to 4 mm to be placed in a single step and can be light cured in 10 seconds when using the universal shade. x-tra base is indicated for lining (restoration base) for class I and II cavities, as a cav- ity lining (base layer) for class I and II cavities, and can also be used for facial walls.
Thirteen evaluators with a combined 336 years of experience in dentistry participated in Dental Product Shopper?s evaluation of x-tra base. They rated several features, including ease of use, simplicity of procedure, procedure time, internal cavity adaption, and overall satisfaction with the product.
Ease of Use/Simplicity of Procedure
According to VOCO, x-tra base is available in either hygenic unit dose caps or non-dripping syringe delivery systems. The unit dose caps come with an extra-long bendable needle tip that can be bent as needed for procedures, providing easier access in hard-to-reach areas.
When asked to rate the ease of use/simplicity of procedure of x-tra base, 8 evaluators rated it as excellent, 3 rated it as very good, and 2 rated it as good. Procedure Time

When the 13 evaluators were asked to rate the procedure time from using xtra base, 9 evaluators rated it as excellent, 2 rated it as very good, and 2 rated it as good. Internal Cavity Adaption
VOCO indicates that x-tra base?s flowable consistency makes it easy for the material to flow into the smallest undercuts because of its smart selfleveling effect. x-tra base can level by itself without slumping out of maxillary restorations.
Seven evaluators rated the internal cavity adaption (self-leveling effect) of x-tra base as excellent, 4 rated it as very good, 1 rated it as good, and 1 rated it as fair.
