EndoSequence ESR-CM Files
The latest NiTi technology gives these files exceptional strength and flexibility for safe, efficient performance in even the most challenging root canal anatomies
It’s a safe bet that many patients shudder when they hear the words “root canal,” often picturing a long, difficult, and painful ordeal, usually because of hearing some worst-case scenario shared by a friend or relative. Few people would understand this better than endodontist Dr. Paul Kaplan, who is always open to finding a more predictable way to clean and shape canals—and, in turn, create a less stressful experience for his patients and himself.
On a mission to provide patients and dentists with a quick, efficient, and comfortable root canal treatment (RCT) experience, Brasseler USA designed the EndoSequence ESR-CM (controlled memory) reciprocating file system with the latest NiTi technology for superior safety, efficiency, and performance. The strength and flexibility of the files allow for efficient cutting and easy navigation of curved canals while preserving coronal tooth structure.
After using the ESR-CM file system for several weeks for this DPS evaluation, Dr. Kaplan called it “a very well-designed and thought-out sequence of file usage that made the process of cleaning and shaping the root canal space very easy and predictable.” With a patient who had very thin and tortuous canals, he said the files made the RCT “much less stressful than it could have been.”
Efficiency & Convenience of System
The general practitioners and endodontists who participated in this trial were asked to compare ESRCM to similar rotary file systems they were already using. To do so, they tested the K0402 ESR-CM Intro Kit, which includes 3 packs each of #15 (Scout), #30, #40, and #50 25-mm files; gutta-percha; and Brasseler’s Endo BC Sealer with syringe and tips. The system includes all components needed for an easyto-follow root canal sequence and is compatible with most handpieces, which was appreciated by Dr. Eric Winterton and several other dentists.
Calling ESR-CM “much easier to use” than his current system, Dr. Kaplan explained, “It is very easy to incorporate into an endodontic routine with very little learning curve. It provided a step-by-step sequence to clean and shape any canal anatomy that I encountered.” Dr. Nathaniel Behrents found the ESR-CM system “easy to use and follow,” Dr. Jason Wetmore described it as “easy to follow with ISO sizing,” and Dr. Nilay Nanavati described the ease of use as “certainly paramount and key.” Noting that the ESR-CM files “seemed easier to engage with the handpiece” than those of his current system, Dr. Mark Edington said he has now converted to using the Endo BC Sealer because “it coats the canal much better than my current sealer.”
Cutting Performance
The ESR-CM files feature a reverse-cutting flute design that allows dentists to use them in a counter-clockwise motion. Praising their “very efficient cutting,” Dr. Brad Barker said he appreciated having larger file sizes than those offered by his current system, as well as corresponding paper points. With a goal of faster, more efficient root canals, Dr. Wetmore used all the files in the introductory kit and achieved “good outcomes with no issues,” yet he suggested that smaller file sizes for molars could be included. Hoping for simplicity and speed during root canals, Dr. Edington described the EndoSequence ESR-CM files as having “a nice flow sequence that minimizes hand filing and achieves a fast result.” Dr. Thomas Morgan called it a “very simplistic rotary file system with the strength and resistance to breakage you can rely on.”

Ease of Navigation
Featuring a constant taper design and heat treatment that enables prebending, the ESR-CM file system maximizes flexibility to navigate even the most complex anatomies. Facing the challenge of curved or calcified canals that are difficult to clean and shape, Dr. Peter Guirguis said the files are “flexible and strong,” and Dr. Winterton said he encountered no file separation. Dr. Shari Mathew said the files helped him navigate curved canals with less time to obturation. “The files are very predictable and robust,” said Dr. Morgan, who stressed the importance of having a predictable rotary file system to navigate both easy and challenging calcified curved canals when working on molars and said that “the ESR-CM files deliver beautifully,” making it “easy to navigate canals, file to length, and fill.”
Overall Satisfaction
Calling the EndoSequence ESR-CM file system “very efficient,” Dr. Barker said, “It is an excellent product that gives [my system] a run for its money.” Dr. Kaplan noted, “It worked as advertised and gave value for the price. I wouldn’t hesitate at all to use these files on every patient going forward.” Dr. Edington concluded, “The files and instruction create a simplified path to endodontic success.” Summing up his experience with the ESR-CM files, Dr. Winterton said, “Together, the combination of bioceramic sealer, gutta-percha, and files improves the chances of success.”
