ContacEZ Signature Set

This comprehensive set of innovative finishing and polishing strips allows dentists to achieve flawless proximal contacts with any restoration

When putting the final finishing touches on a patient’s restoration, complications like overhangs, rough margins, or residual cement in a tight contact can bring that appointment to a screeching—and frustrating—halt. For Dr. Christina Do, a halt often occurs when she’s attempting to remove excess composite or cement, but luckily, she’s found a solution to this problem with the ContacEZ Signature Set.

With 10 different types of restorative strips, the Signature Set provides dentists with all the strips needed for finishing and polishing crowns, composites, and veneers; adjusting proximal contacts and completing marginal seating; proximal contouring; and removing trapped cement or excess composite with minimal time and effort.

The strips worked “perfectly” to remove composite flash and residual cement, said Dr. Do, who called the Signature Set “an amazing product that resolves the problem and makes appointments so much easier.” Praising the variety of color-coded strips and the convenient storage system, Dr. Do explained how “one pass through the contact with a strip saved the day” when she was removing cement after interproximal cementation of a crown.

Strip Design & Assortment

With 24 assorted restorative strips stored in a convenient, clearly marked case, the Signature Set includes color-coded Diamond Strips, Serrated Strips, Final Polishing Strips, Hygienist Strips, LAB Stone Strips, Serrated Diamond Strips, and Narrow Strips. The flexible strips feature a 1-handed design for optimal control with less hand fatigue, while a central window increases visibility.

“The kit’s organization is beautiful and well thought out,” said Dr. Ross Isbell, who “loved the specialized aspect of the different strips for specific situations.” He found the ultrafine bands especially useful for polishing interproximally and for creating good contours from margin to contact. Dr. R. Glen Willis praised “the narrow diamond-coated serrated strips to access and polish subgingival margins.” Dr. Dominic Raymond liked the organization of the strips and how each was clearly labeled, and Dr. Robert Convissar appreciated the variety of grits and color coding. When asked to suggest improvements, Dr. Raihan Nazir recommended “a vertical rack to hold them on display so it’s easier to select and pick the one you want.”

Interproximal Access

Rather than using his saw blade when he couldn’t floss the contacts of newly cemented crowns, Dr. Raymond said, “I got out the corresponding strip and it easily did the job.” Removing excess cement interproximally when seating multiple veneers was made easier for Dr. Sheldon Seidman, who found the “smaller, easy-to-handle strips safer for lips and tongues,” and said, “The strips fit better between the teeth to allow smoothing and shaping of interproximals.”

Dr. Craig Goldin “loved the black strips for ideal interproximal crown and veneer contacts,” while Dr. Frederick Bonds suggested a more aggressive grit for inter-proximal reduction and finishing. Describing the protective handles as “much safer than handheld strips,” Dr. Kevin Altieri said the upward band “works great for composite interproximal flash as well as IPR.”

Adjusting Contacts & Removing Excess Material

With the ContacEZ Signature Set, “it is easy to access teeth to adjust contacts,” shared Dr. Jack Ringer, and Dr. Ken Bendik said it “worked well for stripping very tight contacts.” Dr. Alan Krause found it easy to adjust contacts, especially implant crowns, and Dr. Isbell noted that “finishing rough edges of Class II direct restorations and removing cement with crown deliveries is made simple.” Dr. Willis said the narrow height “facilitates access and prevents unwanted removal of interproximal contacts,” and Dr. Goldin stated, “I achieved a perfect interproximal contact every time.”

“The Signature Set made cement removal around multiple crowns much easier and less traumatic for patients,” shared Dr. Mike Glasmeier, who discovered “multiple ways to use the strips when cement needed to be removed and composite restorations required adjustment.” Praising the “ergonomic finger grips, ease of movement, and good control” of the strips, Dr. Nazir noted, “It definitely gave us the confidence to proceed with large crown delivery cases without worrying about how we’d handle excess cement.”

Overall Satisfaction

“The Signature Set makes dentistry less frustrating,” shared Dr. Raymond, who said that “everything about the kit is well thought out.” Dr. Krause called it “a simple solution to a challenging problem that makes my life easier,” and Dr. Goldin acknowledged that he will use the strips every day. “I look forward to implementing the Signature Set as a long-term solution for better grips and more precision in interproximal finishing,” stated Dr. Isbell. Noting that the strips “worked well in all situations,” Dr. Convissar concluded, “The ContacEZ Signature Set should be in every dental office.”
