VOCO’s Remin Pro prevents and rapidly reduces root surface sensitivity.
Loved it. My patients with sensitivity are loving VOCO,” said one of the 15 dentists who evaluated VOCO’S Remin Pro desensitizer.
Indicated for use after whitening, and for the prevention of hypersensitivity, demineralization, and acid erosion, Remin Pro is formulated for user-friendly and rapid reduction of root surface sensitivity.
Sensitivity Reduction
Manufacturer Description: Remin Pro, a water-based cream containing hydroxyapatite (calcium and phosphate), fluoride (1450 ppm), and xylitol, helps to control and prevent sensitivity by neutralizing acid challenges from cariogenic bacteria in plaque. Remin Pro also strengthens enamel, helps to restore mineral balance, protects against erosion and demineralization, and helps to prevent caries in high-risk patients.
Evaluator Feedback: All 14 evaluators rated Remin Pro’s ability to reduce sensitivity as excellent, very good, or good. “I like the product and have used it successfully on a sensitive tooth in my mouth,” said an evaluator who noted that he would probably purchase the product and recommend it to his colleagues. Another evaluator, who described Remin Pro as much better than similar products, reported, “It relieved the discomfort due to sensitive teeth,” and added, “The relief lasted all day and eventually disappeared.”
Ease of Use/Application
Manufacturer Description: Each tube of Remin Pro contains 40 g of paste. It can easily be applied with a finger, toothbrush, or swab, or can be placed in a custom tray, and is left in the mouth for a minimum of 3 minutes. Remin Pro is safe for daily use, and contains no milk proteins.
Evaluator Feedback: Ninety-three percent of the evaluators rated ease of use as excellent or very good, and several cited this as the feature they liked most. “It was really easy to use and added only a few seconds to [patients’] homecare regimens,” said a dentist in practice for 34 years. When asked what they’d like to see improved, an evaluator who gave the desensitizer an overall rating of very good noted that “coming with an applicator brush might be nice,” and a dentist in practice for 30 years said, “Make it a little thicker; some patients said it was messy to use.” Ease of application was rated by 13 evaluators, 7 of whom rated it as excellent, and 5 of whom rated it as very good or good. All 14 evaluators rated speed of application as excellent or very good.
Taste
Manufacturer Description: Remin Pro comes in assorted and single-flavor packages of strawberry, melon, and mint flavors.
Evaluator Feedback: “Patient reaction has been very positive, especially when evaluating the taste,” said a dentist who rated all features as excellent. The same evaluator, who reported that he would definitely purchase Remin Pro and recommend it to his colleagues, noted, “The choice of flavors is also an asset in dispensing this product.” Twelve of the 13 evaluators who rated flavor/taste categorized it as excellent, very good, or good. Remin Pro’s feel on teeth was rated as excellent, very good, or good by 13 evaluators, one of whom cited “the way it makes my teeth feel after applying; they feel softer and slick” as the feature he liked most.
When asked about potential improvements, a few evaluators commented on taste or flavor choices, with remarks such as, “Better flavor is my only suggestion,” and, “A variety of kid-friendly flavors may help with compliance.”
Overall Satisfaction
Eleven evaluators rated their overall satisfaction with Remin Pro as excellent or very good, and reported that they would definitely or probably purchase it and recommend it to their colleagues. A New Jersey dentist who rated all features as excellent noted, “I have not received one negative comment from the patients who received the trial samples.” “Patients like the taste, the choices of flavors, the ease of use, and the quickness [with which] the product takes effect,” said a New York dentist who described Remin Pro as much better than similar products.
