According to Dr. Sean Grady, “Root repair products are messy and difficult to use” and usually require “mixing ingredients chairside before delivering it to the area that requires repair.” Thankfully, he found a convenient, no-mix root repair material in EdgeEndo’s EdgeUtopia RRM, a versatile, premixed calcium silicate repair material with a convenient unit-dose delivery system.

“Because EdgeUtopia RRM is prepared and delivered in a unit-dose capsule, it is much more convenient than other similar materials,” Dr. Grady shared. He noted that the root repair material does not require mixing a base/catalyst powder and liquid, and it’s “easily delivered to the problem area for repair.” Using EdgeUtopia RRM “speeds up the process, which is something we are always looking to do,” he added.

Endodontist Dr. Alan Sedell noted that “bioceramic repair materials and MTAs are 2 of the most difficult materials to mix consistently, which makes placement very challenging.” He was thrilled that EdgeUtopia RRM “eliminated any mixing procedure, which is always the most stressful part of using bioceramic repair materials.” He also appreciates the product’s “easy placement and consistency” and called it “a real time-saver and much less frustrating to use.”

Consistency and Handling

Praising EdgeUtopia RRM’s “excellent handling, great condensable putty consistency, and better adaptation,” Dr. Malik Al-Grouz said, “The putty consistency made it easy for me to condense while maintaining the material from extruding.” Naming “ease of use and handling” as his favorite features, Dr. Roman suggested “the ability to thin the mixture if needed.”

Dr. dela Cruz commended the material’s “ease of delivery, thickness, and easy manipulation and handling.” A pediatric dentist, whose favorite features were the “ease of working with the material and the radiopacity,” said the material did not stick to instruments, “which was very helpful.”

Versatility and Final Results

EdgeUtopia RRM is a versatile material suitable for all root and pediatric repair needs. It is indicated for treatment of lateral and furcation root canal perforations, internal resorption, reverse root filling, direct and indirect pulp capping, apexification, and apicigenesis. The material’s bioceramic properties release Ca2+ to promote tissue healing and regeneration.

“EdgeUtopia RRM is a quality product with multiple endodontic applications,” shared Dr. John Horn, who primarily used it as a pulp-capping material. Most of the evaluators indicated they plan to use EdgeUtopia RRM in the future, with Dr. dela Cruz calling it “the best bioceramic repair material I’ve used so far.” Noting that “it’s a valuable addition to my endodontic armamentarium,” Dr. Sedell declared, “The capsule and delivery system make it easily the most user-friendly version of bioceramic repair materials I have come across. It makes the application for repair procedures much quicker and easier, which makes my clinical life less stressful and more productive.”
