NobelReplace features improvements that offer greater flexibility for implant procedures.
Designed for versatility, ease-of-use, and predictability, Nobel Biocare’s NobelReplace tapered implant line has now undergone improvements that offer users even greater flexibility and ease of use while ensuring optimal implant outcomes. In addition to the internal tri-channel connection, the implant system now features colorcoded components, a user-friendly drilling protocol, and a new 11.5 mm implant and drill length.
Ease of Use
Color-coding of the NobelReplace components enables fast and easy identification, and a step-bystep drilling protocol produces predictable surgical procedures. Better identification and support of the surgical workflow is now possible, thanks to an improved layout that also clearly displays the drill protocol.
When the 11 dentists (all current customers) who evaluated the NobelReplace system were asked about ease of use, 10 rated it as excellent and 1 rated it as very good. Manufacturer support was rated as excellent by 10 evaluators and as fair by 1. “My restorative colleagues enjoy restoring this implant. It’s very simple,” said an evaluator from Virginia Beach.
The evaluator who said, “the kits are very well marked and easy to use” also noted, “the support from Nobel Biocare has been top-notch, both locally and with tech support on the phone.” Another dentist, who said he would definitely recommend and purchase the system again, remarked that “it’s important for companies to support the profession and Nobel Biocare has an excellent record.”
Implant Design
The internal tri-channel connection of Nobel- Replace ensures accurate and secure prosthetic restorations. The implant is now available in an 11.5 mm length and the surgical kit features a new plate to accommodate these drills. The plastic impression copings have been improved to now be radiopaque.
Implant design was rated as excellent by 5 evaluators, as very good by 5, and as fair by 1. When asked about features they’d like to see improved, 1 dentist suggested “a different screwdriver to hold the parts better and knurling on the guide pins to make them easier to tighten.” Another evaluator noted that “the shoulder of the implant needs an update.” Three dentists suggested platform switching.
One evaluator called the 11.5 mm lengths for tapered implants “a wonderful addition” and another commented on the “good selection of diameters and lengths…works well for immediate implant surgery with good insertion torques in large volume defects.”
When asked about initial stability, 7 dentists rated NobelReplace as excellent and 4 rated it as very good. One of the 3 evaluators who cited this as the feature they liked most reported, “The tapered design provides excellent insertion torque stability.” A periodontist evaluator noted, “It’s a well-designed, user-friendly system that’s easy to place and achieves great initial stability.”
Restorative Outcome
Restorative outcomes achieved with NobelReplace were rated as excellent by 7 evaluators, as very good by 3, and as good by 1. One evaluator noted the “ease of restorability for my referring dentists” and another reported “good quality restorative parts that fit well.”
A dentist who called it much better than similar implants said it “satisfies immediate implant surgery needs in a vast array of clinical situations with good and easy immediate load restorative options.” Another evaluator described the tapered implant as “perfect for immediate implant placements in the extraction sockets.”
“We’ve been using this particular implant system for over 5 years and have had excellent clinical results (98% success!),” said one evaluator. “This gives us extreme confidence using this implant and recommending it to our referrals when they suggest using another brand.”
Overall Satisfaction
Seven evaluators rated their overall satisfaction with NobelReplace as excellent and 4 rated it as very good. Eight called it much or somewhat better than similar systems.
All 11 evaluators said they would definitely recommend the system to colleagues. When asked if they would purchase it, 10 evaluators said definitely and 1 said probably. “I call it ‘old reliable’,” said an Oregon dentist. “It’s hard to beat in nearly all situations.”
