DUX Dental Bib-Eze
Disposable Bib Holders
You would never re-use a bib, so why re-use a bib holder?
DUX Dental’s Bib-Eze disposable paper bib holders are designed to simplify handling, enhance patient comfort, and eliminate the need to sterilize. Unlike traditional chains, Bib-Eze is made of lightweight, elasticized fiber and has no sharp edges, doesn’t feel cold on the patient’s neck, and stretches to fit comfortably. Self-adhesive ends secure Bib-Eze to any bib, and removal is “as easy as tearing a piece of paper.” Market and clinical research reveals that sterilizing a bib chain between patients is rare, and wiping down the chain won't completely eliminate the possible risk of cross contamination to the patient or to the dental provider.
Bib-Eze comes in boxes of 250 and features a breast cancer support ribbon design.
Patient Comfort
When the 10 hygienists who evaluated Bib-Eze were asked to rate patient comfort (softness, ability to stretch, absence of cold chains), 7 rated it as excellent, 1 rated it as very good, and 2 rated it as good. One evaluator called them “soft and easy to stretch for larger patients” while another said they “tore the bib when used on larger patients.” One hygienist said they “tended to stick to patients’ hair.” Three hygienists with a combined 73 years of experience commented on the absence of a cold chain; 1 called temperature “the most noticeable [improvement]” and another called the holders “very comfortable,” adding, “Several patients noticed the missing cold chain.”
Ease of Use
Ease of dispensing Bib-Eze was rated as excellent by 3 evaluators, as very good or good by 4, fair by 1, and poor by 2. Three hygienists said it was difficult to dispense a single holder at a time. Two of these evaluators, along with a North Pole, AK hygienist who called Bib-Eze “very easy to use,” said the box was “a little large” or “long and bulky,” making it difficult to store in drawers/cabinets. One evaluator with 10 years of experience said dispensing “wasn’t hard but tabs had to be removed and thrown away…too many steps.” Another evaluator called the packaging “very handy…no problems.”
Patient ease of use with a napkin or bib was rated as excellent by 3 evaluators, very good by 4, good by 1, and poor by 2. One of the 2 evaluators who called them “too sticky” also said they “tended to rip the bibs.” Other comments included “easy to peel and stick” and “stayed attached to the bib with no tearing until I was ready to remove it.” A Phoenix, AZ hygienist called them “flimsy,” adding that they “sometimes tore.” The evaluator who said the holders “came off the bib on 1 side a few times” also noted that “fumbling to dispense them and then take off the adhesive seemed like quite a production.” This Albuquerque, NM hygienist said, “My patients didn’t complain, but many commented about the holder, when clipping the bib is usually a non-issue.”
Ease of Clean-up
Ease of clean-up with Bib-Eze was rated as excellent by 8 evaluators and as very good to good by 2. A Coarsegold, CA hygienist said, “Knowing they’re disposable is the nice part…1 more way to protect against pathogens.” Four evaluators with a combined 68 years of experience commented on the convenience of the disposable holder; one called clean-up “very easy…nothing to disinfect,” another “loved not having to wipe it down…just tear it off and throw it away,” and another said, “It sure is convenient to use and toss! Who doesn’t love having fewer things to clean?” However, this same hygienist added that “an autoclavable, reusable set of bib holders in each set-up seems like the best option when considering disposables’ environmental effect.”
Overall Satisfaction
Seven evaluators said they would definitely or probably recommend Bib- Eze to colleagues. Overall satisfaction was rated as excellent by 2 hygienists, very good by 3, good by 2, fair by 1, and poor by 2. An evaluator with 37 years of experience said, “It was so easy to just toss it all away...no sanitizing!"
