Nano Loupe Light DentLight The DentLight Nano Loupe Light incorporates FUSION curing light technology with high optical power performance and the smallest overall weight of any loupe light. Overhead operating light and fi ber optic headlights have been the standard for normal procedures until the past 3 years when the advancement of LEDs are starting to replace normal halogen, Xenon, and plasma lighting as they are in curing lights. The DentLight Nano Loupe Light incorporates FUSION curing light technology with high optical power performance and the smallest overall weight of any loupe light.

Overhead operating light and fi ber optic headlights have been the standard for normal procedures until the past 3 years when the advancement of LEDs are starting to replace normal halogen, Xenon, and plasma lighting as they are in curing lights. LED headlights make it possible to become smaller, brighter, lighter, portable and much more economic in scale when starting and operating a dental office.

DentLight describes the Nano Loupe Light LED lighting technology as a small light with superior power. According to the manufacturer, the Nano is comparable in weight to other loupe light products on the market, but delivers more power and comes with 2 much smaller battery packs vs the 1available with other loupes.

Ten dentists and hygienists participated in Dental Product Shopper’s evaluation of the Nano Loupe Light. They rated the product on such features as illumination and beam quality, weight and comfort, ease of use, and optical power-to-weight ratio.

Illumination and Beam Quality

The ideal combination of a good LED light and appropriate magnifi cation reduces procedure time, improves quality of restorations, and aids in canal location. DentLight’s Nano Light offers up to 45,000 Lux of cool, white light that is suffi cient to power magnifications up to 3.5X. According to DentLight, the distinctive beam quality also generates minimum glare.

When the evaluators were asked to rate the illumination and beam quality of the Nano Loupe Light, 6 rated it as excellent and 4 rated it as very good. One evaluator said that “it is very bright and illuminates well.” An evaluator from Arnold, MO, said that it “provides excellent illumination for the operator.”

Weight and Comfort

DentLight describes the Nano as the smallest overall light on the market, with a 6-g headlight and 87-g battery pack. The dentists and hygienists who participated in this evaluation were asked how important weight and comfort are to them when purchasing loupe lights. All of the evaluators said weight and comfort are very important to important.

When the evaluators were asked to rate the weight of the Nano’s headlight and battery pack, 5 rated it as excellent and 5 rated it as very good. One evaluator commented that “the small size of the light as well as the small size of the battery pack are the best features.”

When the evaluators were asked to rate the overall comfort of the Nano Loupe Light, 2 rated it as excellent, 5 rated it as very good, 2 rated it as fair, and 1 rated it as poor. One evaluator stated that “I loved the result when everything was adjusted just right.”

Ease of Use

According to DentLight, dentists are starting a practice ground up or transforming their offi ces using LED technology. The Nano’s concentrated light is important in loupe procedures in effi ciency and doing better quality work.

When the evaluators were asked to rate ease of use of the Nano Loupe Light, 2 rated it as excellent, 3 rated it as very good, 3 rated it as good, and 2 rated it as fair. One evaluator said that “having a second battery that remains in the charger is a great idea,” while another evaluator liked “that the battery lasted all day, which is convenient (recharged at night).”

 

 

 

 

 

 

Optical Power-to-Weight Ratio

DentLight Nano Loupe Light’s LED lighting technology offers a small light with excellent power. Eight of the evaluators said that light output are very important and all 10 evaluators said that size and weight are very important when purchasing a loupe light. An evaluator with 12 years of experience said that the Nano was “lightweight and offered a surprising light output.”

Seven of the evaluators rated the light’s optical power-to-weight ratio as very good. When asked to describe what they liked about the product, one evaluator said that he liked the “small size and brightness” of the light while another evaluator stated that the “intensity and size were superb.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

Overall Satisfaction

When the evaluators were asked if they would recommend Nano Loupe Lights to their colleagues, 7 said defi - nitely or probably.

At the end of the evaluation, the dentists and hygienists who participated were asked to give their overall satisfaction rating of the Nano Loupe Light. Three evaluators gave the light an overall satisfaction rating of excellent, 3 rated it as very good, 2 rated it as good, and 2 rated it as fair. One evaluator said, “I am not in the market for such a light but if I were this is one that I would defi nitley consider.” Another evaluator described the Nano as a “a low price product that performs better than some very expensive units.”
