Pediatric dental disease, also known as severe tooth decay, is the #1 chronic disease among children in the U.S. Millions of children are without access to dental education or services and face ongoing health consequences due to lack of oral health knowledge, untreated tooth decay and other more intensive dental needs. As a result, children are suffering in pain, unable to eat, sleep or concentrate in school. Poor oral health also places a significant burden on local communities, exacerbating poverty, increasing long-term health consequences, decreasing workforce productivity and draining significant personal and governmental financial resources.
