Nitrilex Surpass Exam Gloves

These powder-free nitrile gloves provide great comfort and tactile sensitivity while remaining durable and tear-resistant

While exam gloves are not necessarily the most glamorous product in a dental practice, they can have a tremendous impact on a clinician’s performance. After struggling to don a pair of gloves with a patient waiting in the chair, the last thing a clinican wants to experience is inhibited tactile sensitivity or, even worse, a glove that breaks in the middle of a procedure.

Hoping for an exam glove that combines durability with comfort, tactile sensitivity, finger dexterity, and the freedom of unrestricted movement, Dr. Ana Niehoff recently tried Nitrilex Surpass Exam Gloves and declared, “My hands and fingers feel free! These gloves are the perfect thickness. They are thin enough to stretch and allow for good tactile feel, but they are thick enough to not tear easily.”

The Nitrilex Surpass Exam Gloves from Safco Dental Supply are durable, comfortable, powderfree, nitrile exam gloves with textured fingertips and beaded cuffs. “They are so comfortable to wear,” shared Dr. Niehoff. “I work in nursing homes, and the company I work for provides gloves from a different manufacturer. I constantly reached for the Nitrilex Surpass gloves instead of the others because they are so much more comfortable.”

Comfort, Ease of Donning, & Fit

Available in 4 sizes (small, medium, large, and extra large) in a blue color, the Nitrilex Surpass gloves come in boxes of 300. “I really liked the quantity of gloves per box; I didn’t have to replace the box for over 2 weeks,” shared Susan Sander, RDH.

Previously experiencing “nitrile gloves that were too tight and not as flexible,” Dr. Laura Lam said these gloves “felt sturdy, flexible, and were not too tight” and were “easy to put on without struggling when there is a patient in the chair.” Hygienist Jori McClure called them “stretchy and comfortable” and “liked that they stretched without breaking.” Stating that “the Nitrilex Surpass gloves fit very well,” Misty Mesimer, RDH, added, “They were easy to don and doff, and the cuffs did not rip when donning.” Noting that she “liked the ease of donning best of all,” a New York hygienist explained, “I may wash my hands many times during an appointment and need to immediately don a glove. These gloves allowed me to put them on without a struggle, even to the ends of my fingers, despite just washing my hands and quickly drying them. I found this glove to be consistently better than my current glove.”

While one evaluator thought the gloves fit more snugly than others, hygienst Jennifer Colburn said, “The Nitrilex Surpass gloves provided a good comfortable fit while maintaining tactile sensitivity and latex-free protection.” Tessa Simpson, RDH, agreed that “the material is thin, and the gloves were easy to put on and take off.”

Tactile Sensitivity

Designed to provide superb tactile sensitivity, the Nitrilex Surpass gloves have textured fingertips with a thickness of 3.5 mils at the fingertip and 3.2 mils at the palm. Explaining that “tactile sensitivity is important while exploring with gentle pressure,” Simpson declared, “The thin material was great for tactile sensitivity and didn’t tear easily.” Hygienist Robin Mitchell said she “loves the way the gloves feel,” that “tactile sensitivity was enhanced,” and “they felt so soft, silky, and comfortable to wear.” “We need gloves thin enough for good tactile sensitivity but strong enough to not break when donning them,” explained Angela Reeds, RDH. “The gloves are nice and thin with good fingertip texture for a secure grip but are strong enough to minimize glove breakage,” she remarked. One clinician commented that the Nitrilex Surpass Exam Gloves “had just the right amount of grip” and another “loved the textured fingers.”

“The Nitrilex Surpass Exam Gloves are superior to any gloves I’ve ever worn.”
—Jason Sherman, DDS, FAGD; Greenbrae, CA

Strength, Durability, and Quality

When using Nitrilex Surpass gloves, “we have had much less breakage than our usual brand,” Reeds commented, explaining that “less glove breakage saves time and helps maintain your patient’s confidence in your equipment and you.” Stating that “the gloves are very lightweight and flexible, but also durable,” Sander was thrilled that “they are made of a thinner material” but she still “had no problem with breaking.”

While a few evaluators wished the gloves were a tad thicker and more durable, Dr. Andrea Burgess called them “very high quality” and said she would recommend them to colleagues. “I loved the thin yet strong material of these gloves,” said Mitchell.

Overall Satisfaction

“The Nitrilex Surpass Exam Gloves are superior to any gloves I’ve ever worn,” Mitchell declared. “Evaluating the Nitrilex Surpass gloves helped me recognize the difference in the quality of gloves we were using vs the product we evaluated. I am not the purchasing contact [at our practice], but if I had a vote, I would vote for these gloves. I loved them!” concluded Mitchell. “If clinicians are frustrated with their current nitrile gloves, they should give these consideration,” agreed Sander.
