Atlantic Precious Metal Refining
Refining Services
For more than 25 years, Atlantic Precious Metal Refining has offered high precious metal scrap lot returns.
When asked what he liked best about Atlantic Precious Metal Refining's (Atlantic) services, an evaluator with 22 years of experience described the process as "easy to understand."
The Atlantic Method of refining follows a carefully designed 5-stage protocol that offers high returns on precious metal scrap. Atlantic provides efficient service and a high payout for dentists with a jar full of extracted metal restorations or dental laboratory owner with a bag full of workbench shavings.
Eight dentists participated in this Dental Product Shopper evaluation of Atlantic's refining services, rating features such as efficient handling of questions, easy to understand and acceptable fees, and timeliness of payment.
Efficient Handling of Questions
Manufacturer Description: With more than 150 years of combined experience in the dental industry, the staff at Atlantic can assist above and beyond the expectations of clients. Each scrap lot, no matter how big or small, is handled with the same level of care and attention to detail to achieve the best return for each individual case.
Evaluator Feedback: Atlantic's efficient handling of questions was rated as excellent or very good by 88% of the evaluators. An evaluator from Montvale, NJ, who noted that Atlantic's refining service is much better than similar refining options, said, "[The contact] person was very helpful. When he said they would do something, they did it, and they called to follow up." This same evaluator said he would definitely use the service again in the future and recommend it to his colleagues.
Easy to Understand and Acceptable Fees
Manufacturer Description: In the precious metal refining industry, there are no regulatory standards. As a result, refiners can use any method they choose to calculate their findings. Atlantic has designed the pricing of services to be simple and affordable: the refining fee is 10% of what they `find, and each lot incurs a $25 assay fee.
Evaluator Feedback: A dentist who rated all aspects of Atlantic's refining service as excellent said, "[It was an] easy and efficient procedure. [The] quick mail away service provided with prompt return payment clearly explained." Another evaluator reported, "[Per] the flat fee they charge, [I] would recommend to those using this to do it once or twice a year to increase your reimbursement but nice to see the assay results and what they are paying and why."
When asked what could be improved about the service, one evaluator noted "[I] didn't like the upfront cost," while a dentist in practice for 25 years said, "[I] would like better packaging of the scrap as we had to use our own box to wrap stuff in."
Timeliness of Payment
Manufacturer Description: Atlantic processes scrap lots within 10 business days (typically, 2 weeks from day of receipt to day payment is sent), calculates settlements based on 100% of recovered metal content, and does not have a minimum charge for smaller lots or charge a fee for processing palladium.
Evaluator Feedback: Timeliness of payment was rated as excellent or very good by 6 evaluators. "I liked that they were able to direct deposit the cash and they gave me a breakdown of what metals I turned in," said a Columbia, MO, dentist who cited efficient handling of questions and timeliness of payment as his favorite features. Another evaluator added, "They paid me more for the scrap metal than other companies we used."
Overall Satisfaction
Seven evaluators called Atlantic's services much or somewhat better than similar manufacturers, with comments such as, "[They had] clear explanations, [they were courteous,] and [it was an] easy and efficient procedure." A dentist who has been in practice for 27 years said, "[Atlantic was a] great company to work with; far better than the man with the scales and cash in pocket that comes around twice a year," while an evaluator in practice for 2 years said, "I had such a good experience with the company that I have already used them again."
