When asked what she liked most about Clear Advantage, an hygienist who described the handpiece as much better than similar products responded with, ?less vibration, less noise, very light, well balanced, swiveled easily.? New from Johnson-Promident, the Clear Advantage hygiene handpiece offers virtually the same design, performance, and warranty as the Midwest RDH, but at only half the price. Twelve of the 14 hygienists who evaluated Clear Advantage were current or recent Midwest users.
Ease of Use

Another Midwest user, who called the handpiece much better than similar products, said it ?could reach anywhere,? and, when asked what she?d like to see improved, an evaluator who rated all features as excellent said, ?a cordless option would be great.?
A few evaluators said it was difficult to put on and/or remove the prophy angles, such as an hygienist who noted that it was ?a bit of a snug fit to get the disposable angles to attach to the handpiece,? and another evaluator who remarked, ?I thought the design was good but I had some difficulty removing the used prophy angle.? Some evaluators also would have liked the swivel to move more easily, including one who said she ?had trouble getting it to spin with ease.?

Evaluator Feedback: Described by all 14 evaluators as a very important consideration when selecting a hygiene handpiece, ergonomics/user comfort was identified as the favorite feature of several evaluators, and was rated as excellent, very good, or good by 11. ?It was very light and balanced, and easily maneuvered, taking a lot of stress off my thumb and wrist,? noted a Midwest user with 42 years of experience. Another evaluator, in practice for 29 years, made a similar remark, noting that, ?it did not stress my hand and felt very light weight.? This same hygienist, who rated all features as excellent, went on to say, ?one of the other hygienists tried out this handpiece for just 1 day and she was impressed with the ease of use and how light it felt in her hand.? ?Easy to use since the length was very ergonomically designed,? noted an evaluator with 43 years of experience.
Several evaluators commented on the grip, such as one hygienist who said, ?the upper portion had a good feel?not slippery.? An evaluator who called the handpiece ?ergonomically correct, quality built,? went on to say, ?the textured top is great for a good grip while polishing, but the gauze would stick on it, making it a bit hard to wipe down when cleaning.?

Evaluator Feedback: ?The power was excellent and it didn?t feel like it was going to jump out of my hand during use,? said an hygienist who rated all features as excellent. Three evaluators, all of whom were Midwest users, noted that, ?the handpiece ran very smoothly,? that it had ?nice, even power,? and that it, ?has good regulation of speed.? A fourth Midwest user described it as having ?a smooth feel and great rotation.? Thirteen evaluators rated power as excellent, very good, or good.
Overall Satisfaction
Clear Advantage is designed to operate more quietly than traditional handpices, and several evaluators commented on the noise level, with remarks such as, ?the motor was very quiet and ran smoothly.? A few evaluators also commented on the price, including one Midwest user who noted that, ?cost versus value is much better for this handpiece as compared to its competitor,? and another who said, ?the price is great!? An evaluator who rated all features as very good noted, ?The handpiece is good quality and works very well.
