With LumiSmile White Take-Home kits, patients can whiten their smiles on their own in 1 to 2 weeks with minimal sensitivity.
Donald Jetter, DMD, was looking for a better whitening gel for his patients who prefer a tray system. Each patient then returned for a follow-up visit so the dentists could view the whitening results.
Ease of Use and Flavor
After the dentist fabricates a custom tray, patients take the kits home and dispense the whitening formula from the syringe to the tray at their convenience. “The duration of application is short, and [there are] clear and concise instructions,” Dr. Thomas Walker said. Dr. Cynthia Jetter reported that a few patients had questions about the amount of whitening gel to dispense into the trays. “After a few uses, they were able to better judge how much material to place into the trays,” she noted.
Available in mint flavor and in 3 concentrations (16%, 22%, and 32% carbamide peroxide), the take-home formula has a shelf life of 18 months from the date of manufacture and needs no refrigeration. “I like the availability of different strengths,” Dr. Cynthia Jetter shared, adding that the variety of strengths and effective whitening are the 2 main reasons she would recommend this product. Noting that patient instructions are easy to read and understand, Dr. Michael Robbins said, “I like the strengths that are available as well as the final results.”
For optimum whitening results, DenMat recommends the following bleaching regimen for up to 14 days: 1 treatment per day for 4 to 8 hours for the 16% solution, 1 to 2 treatments per day for 1 to 2 hours for the 22% strength, and 1 to 2 treatments per day for 10 to 15 minutes for the 32% formulation. Whitening Ability
LumiSmile White’s proprietary carbamide peroxide formula will whiten a patient’s smile in 1 to 2 weeks, DenMat reports. “The whitening results were excellent and the rebound minimal,” noted Dr. Walker, who said he would recommend the product to colleagues because it is very effective and his office is selling more bleach systems than ever. Lack of Sensitivity
LumiSmile White Take-Home gel is specially formulated to eliminate sensitivity, which was the favorite feature of several evaluators, including Dr. Walker, who commented, “I love the fact 32% is very fast and effective and that it caused zero sensitivity.” A couple dentists had patients who reported some sensitivity, but it seemed better than with other take-home whitening brands. Dr. Cynthia Jetter appreciates the option to offer whitening to patients who experienced sensitivity from other whitening products and said those patients have referred other patients to her practice. “LumiSmile White is an excellent option for patients who wish to use an at-home whitening product without the worry of sensitivity,” Dr. Jetter concluded.
Overall Satisfaction
Dr. Walker said LumiSmile White is an affordable option that makes patients happier with their smiles. “I think with the amount of time to achieve similar results, this product wins out over its similar competitors,” he added.
