A biocompatible root canal sealer creates a strong barrier to leakage while also promoting healing and regeneration
A puzzle can have 10 pieces, or it can have 10,000, but no matter the number, if 1 piece goes missing (and it always does), the puzzle will never be completed successfully. It’s a similar story with the endo process, which requires a series of steps and materials that, when combined, add up to successful patient outcomes.
For Richard Mounce, DDS, an endodontist in Eagle River, AK, Dia-Root Bio Sealer is a piece of the endo puzzle he cannot do without, and a crucial component in his workflow. He points specifically to how the calcium silicate-based sealer is biocompatible, hydrophilic, and antibacterial with a high pH of 12.
“Sealer is a critical component of the endodontic procedure because it creates a barrier to microbial leakage,” shared Dr. Mounce. “I’ve used Dia-Root Bio Sealer since it first came on the market. I was an early adopter of calcium silicate technology in root canal sealers because the literature-based evidence for this type of sealer technology is very strong."
Nonshrinking, Strong Bonding
A highly radiopaque, premixed, and prefilled MTA sealer, Dia-Root Bio Sealer has high biocompatibility to induce tissue healing and hard-tissue regeneration, and low solubility to maintain an excellent seal inside the canal with zero shrinkage.
“I like the handling characteristics of the Dia-Root Bio Sealer," added Dr. Mounce. "Some sealers are sensitive to heat and either flow too easily or not easily enough, but this flows smoothly and evenly, and when used correctly, overfilling and splatter apically are less of a risk than with other products. It’s also positioned well price-wise, so it’s cost-effective and easily dispensed without waste.”
Optimal Flowability
Dia-Root Bio Sealer offers superior bonding to dentin and gutta-percha, as well as optimal flowability for reaching canals.
“I've noticed empirically that there's been little if any postop pain reported by my patients since using Dia-Root Bio Sealer,” he shared.
“While I don't know how much of this I can attribute to the sealer, I know that copious activated irrigation, treating all canals, sealing the access, using CBCT and a microscope, and using calcium silicate sealers have provided the best results of my career. Dia-Root Bio Sealer is definitely one leg of the chair when it comes to excellent treatment, especially compared with traditional sealers.”
