Dental professionals have a lot to worry about—from ensuring appointments run on time to explaining dental conditions to dealing with unexpected patient emergencies. So, removing even one worry from the day-to-day can feel like a tremendous relief, and that’s exactly what the PURPLE NITRILE MAX glove was designed to do.

Brought to you by Halyard, makers of the No. 1 and 2 branded gloves in dental*—LAVENDER and AQUASOFT—PURPLE NITRILE MAX is made for sterilizing and reprocessing instruments. Eliminating the need to wear double or triple gloves, these gloves feature a heavier weight for added confidence when handling instruments and decontamination chemicals. Durable and easy to don, they have fully textured palms and fingertips for an excellent wet/dry grip.

“I use utility gloves for cleaning instruments in my operatory, but the PURPLE MAX gloves are more tac-tile when handling instruments—far better than utility gloves,” said April Curtis, RDH, who added that the gloves made picking up instruments and placing them in bags much easier. “They feel strong and safe.”

Additionally, the gloves extend a full 16 inches to protect dental professionals from water ingress and subsequent skin irritation. While hygienist Lydia Pope felt that at times the gloves seemed a little too long to pull over her scrub jacket, she did appreciate their bright purple color that differentiated them from exam gloves stored in the same area.

“I would give these gloves a 10 in tactile feel,” she added. “My practice prefers that we use heavy-duty gloves for sterilizing, but heavy gloves make it difficult to bag instruments and remove the sealing strip. The PURPLE MAX gloves made these tasks simpler. Placing instruments in bags, removing the sealing strip, and oiling handpieces was all so much easier.”

Heather Richardson, EFDA, agreed, sharing, “The PURPLE MAX gloves work better for getting into the ultrasonic than rubber gloves since they are form-fitting. I also had no issue gripping instruments, and the longer length works well for sterilization.”

Handle Sharps with Confidence

Pope noted another significant benefit: “I feel that the gloves are thick enough to prevent getting stuck with an instrument. Even when I tested this with a sterile instrument, I was unable to puncture the glove. This is very beneficial to me.”

She concluded, “I would highly recommend these gloves to other dental professionals. I can honestly say they are superior gloves all around.”
