A More Affordable, Gentler CBCT Bite Block

Developing high-quality imaging products for dental professionals is nothing new at Flow Dental—the company's been doing that for
over 90 years, with a growing portfolio of sensor and camera sleeves, the SMART Positioning System, lead capes, and other imaging accessories designed to meet the needs of today’s practices. What is new is Comfee Bytes, an innovative single-use bite block universally suited for any CBCT 3D imaging system.
"We designed Comfee Bytes as an inexpensive alternative to standard bite blocks," explained Bill Winters, President of Flow Dental. "Besides being more affordable than similar products, Comfee Bytes are a more adaptable, elegant, and comfortable solution to the challenge of positioning a patient," he explained.
The bite block has an adhesive tab, which gets folded over the bite plane, forming a soft, comfortable bite plate. Made of a thin piece of laminated paper, Comfee Bytes are designed for patient comfort when compared to other bite blocks that are larger, made of thick foam, and shaped like an impression tray, making them difficult for clinicians to position.
Recyclable & Biodegradable
In addition to making a more comfortable product, the team at Flow Dental wanted to lessen the negative environmental impact caused by single-use dental products. Comfee Bytes are biodegradable, made from recycled materials, and are recyclable as well.

Universal Applications
"We have a history of developing unique imaging accessory products—that’s our core competency," Winters said, "and also for universal products. Everyone uses more than one brand of equipment."
The company was the first to offer Perfect Fit Camera Sleeves because dentists routinely use different intraoral cameras that require specific sleeves. Flow Dental's sleeves fit a host of intraoral cameras, making them a one-size-fits-all solution.
"We took that competency further with Comfee Bytes. Practices use different equipment for CBCT 3D imaging, and Comfee Bytes are universal bite blocks for use with all systems," Winters explained.
Overall, Winters believes clinicians will find Comfee Bytes to be an alternative product that's more costefficient, less complicated to place, and eco-friendly, all while being more comfortable for patients.
