Isolite keeps patients safe and comfortable while also allowing dental teams to practice more efficiently

Before switching to the Isolite, Dr. Tarun Agarwal used to “rubber dam” everything. He finds the illuminated dental isolation device is just as effective, yet easier to use and more comfortable for patients.

Today, he has an Isolite in every operatory and uses it for just about every dental procedure, including restorative work, minor surgical cases, and scaling and root planing.

“It’s not as tedious to get in the mouth as a rubber dam, and it’s not as claustrophobic for the patient,” Dr. Agarwal said. “It also allows me to see better and have my hands free. It’s just a wonderful tool.”

You Can Focus on the Dentistry

When Isolite first came to market more than 20 years ago, Dr. Agarwal immediately saw the value in freeing his assistant from simply suctioning water. With the Isolite, she could contribute much more effectively during procedures.

The same goes for Dr. Agarwal's hygienists, who “don’t have the luxury of having an assistant." They love the Isolite because it means they don’t have to stop every 30 seconds during scaling and root planing procedures to suction water.

“It does an amazing job of keeping the tongue and cheek out of the way and keeping the area dry,” Dr. Agarwal explained. “It allows you to just do the work you need to do."

Patients Will Thank You

With the Isolite in place, Dr. Agarwal can finish procedures faster while keeping patients more comfortable. It also gives patients a mouth prop so they don’t have to stay open on their own.

Isolite also helps improve safety during procedures by preventing patients from accidentally swallowing tooth fragments or pieces of broken instruments.

“Patients don’t feel like they’re drowning, and you’re not going to nick their teeth or tongue if you use the Isolite,” he said. “Plus, it protects the airway and the throat.”

Better and Faster for Everyone

Ultimately, Dr. Agarwal describes the Isolite as an “absolutely great product," noting that the company behind the Isolite, Zyris, is family-owned and led by individuals who are very supportive of the dental community. The team there has created a great tool for dentistry that he can’t imagine practicing without.

“If you’ve never tried it, you don’t know what you’re missing,” he said. “For restorative dentistry, it’s an indispensable tool to do better work, faster work, and more comfortable work for your patients."
