BC Sealer and ESR-CM Files

Unique obturation and instrumentation solutions designed for streamlined, minimally invasive root canal therapy

Find out why allen ali nasseh, dds believes that Brasseler's bc sealer and esr-cm files

allen ali nasseh ddsThere are no better words to hear than when a patient sits up in the chair and asks, “It’sendosequence bc sealer alreadyover?” In my office, we tell patients that endodontic treatment will be quick and painless, and using instrumentation and obturation from Brasseler’s unique portfolio of endodontic solutions is one way that I deliver on this promise.

When bioceramics debuted in dentistry, Brasseler was one of the first to recognize the power they had in terms of transforming endodontic obturation. Together at Real World Endo, we developed a technique called hydraulic condensation that expedites the process of obturation. EndoSequence BC Sealer is the vehicle that drives this new technique—allowing for the same quality seal as other materials, but with the added advantage of bonding.

Instead of creating a specific shape and removing unnecessary tooth structure just so the material will stay in place, BC Sealer adheres to the tooth and expands a bit when it sets. Using a bonded cement to obturate the canal means that you no longer need to hollow out the tooth to improve the filling technique, which decreases the risk of fracture.

This paradigm shift in obturation calls for instruments with thinner shapes and smaller tapers that can remove less tooth structure while still allowing canals to be altered. So, Brasseler redesigned its flagship ESR reciprocating fi le into ESRCM, which is more conservative in shape. Compared to the original file’s rectangularshaped cross-section, the ESR-CM fi le has a triangular cross-section that improves cutting effiiency.

Greater Efficiency for the Win

During a typical root canal, clinicians spend the majority of their time dealing with shaping and obturation, when in reality disinfection is the most important step of the endodontic triad. Using minimally invasive tools and techniques gives me more time to spend on effective irrigation and disinfection. So, not only do I improve the chance of a successful outcome, but there's more time to connect with my patients and improve their overall experience in my practice. It’s a win-win all around.
