Seeking a chair, a bowl of porridge, and a bed that were “just right,” Goldilocks eventually found her perfect fit. Clinicians embark on similar searches, trying an array of materials until discovering the ones that best suit their needs.

In this modern-day dental fairy tale, Dr. John Jackfert found his “just right” dentin substitute with Septodont’s Biodentine XP. “With MTAs, there was a lot of hand mixing, causing very inconsistent results,” he said. “Biodentine XP is nice because you know that after it's mixed, you’re going to get the same consistency every time. It’s not too runny and not too hard, which makes my results very predictable.”

This predictability stems from Biodentine XP’s proprietary mixer and all-in-one, ready-to-mix cartridges, which make procedure prep fast and easy. “I had a fidgety 5-year-old in my chair and was trying to do everything as quickly as possible,” Dr. Jackfert said. “I was able to prep the tooth while my assistant was getting Biodentine XP mixed in the machine, and I completed the restoration sooner than I could have using an MTA-based material. I also didn’t have to wait as long for the material to harden," as the mixer adequately mixes Biodentine XP in just 30 seconds.

Dr. Jackfert also appreciates having an applicator gun with a bendable tip that allows him to directly apply the material at the base of a crown or root. He has used Biodentine XP for direct and indirect pulp capping, root and furcation perforations, full and partial pulpotomies, and other scenarios. “I like having the ability to manipulate it to go where I want it to, as opposed to trying to access the area at an odd angle to make it work,” he said.

Biodentine XP is available in 2 volumes—XP 200 and XP 500—to reduce waste across indications.

Remove the Guesswork

Septodont’s patented Active Biosilicate Technology (ABS) provides an extremely pure tricalcium silicate mineral composition and an alkaline pH that enhance Biodentine XP’s bioactivity, biocompatibility, and sealing ability. With that, ABS helps limit bacterial growth, facilitate the mineralization process by promoting the formation of hydroxyapatite, and preserve pulp vitality.

“Septodont has created a 'foolproof' material when compared with MTA products, and thanks to ongoing improvements, I think doctors will feel very comfortable using Biodentine XP," Dr. Jackfert assured. “It’s a great material that takes a lot of the guesswork out of restorative procedures and techniques.”
