Transcend universal composite enables clinicians to deliver highly esthetic, durable restorations to their patients—all with just 1 Universal Body shade
Often when placing a resin composite, the name of the game is being able to place the material quickly and efficiently without compromise,” said Mike Micallef, DDS, who practices at Family Tree Dentistry in Glendale, WI. “But for me, it’s also knowing that it will provide great results with high esthetics and durability for each patient case.”
During a recent DPS product review, Dr. Micallef found that Transcend universal composite from Ultradent covers all these bases, which is why he decided to make it his office’s go-to resin composite.
“I’ve used other Ultradent products throughout my career, so once I tried this resin, I was pretty much sold on it,” he said, noting that he especially likes the material’s working consistency and how it blends nicely with surrounding tooth structure.
Seamless Shade Matching
Designed with patented Resin Particle Match technology, Transcend universal composite provides unprecedented shade matching for restorations in both the posterior and anterior regions—no blocker or opaquer needed.
“If you’re looking to cut down on the number of resins you have on hand, Transcend composite can help achieve that with its single Universal Body shade,” Dr. Micallef assured.
For esthetically demanding anterior cases, a simple complementary shade system is available, which includes 4 dentin shades (A1D, A2D, A3D, and B1D) and 2 enamel shades (Enamel White and Enamel Neutral).
“In a couple situations, such as incisal edge restorations or Class V restorations on the gumline, I've used the enamel shades as well to add some bright-ness to the anterior resin in place,” Dr. Micallef said. “Even when it's a restoration on the occlusal surface of a molar, we still want that restoration looking good, and we can get a satisfying shade match with Transcend composite's Universal Body shade.”
Superior Results at an Affordable Price
“Once I place the composite into the preparation, I use one of my instruments to pack it, and it won’t stick to the instrument either,” he continued. “I see little to no slumping, and it goes right where I want it to go. These are all favorable characteristics.”
Transcend universal composite also yields visually appealing, long-lasting restorations with high polish-ability, compressive strength, and wear resistance.
“There are quite a few chameleon-like resins on the market now, and Transcend composite is an affordably priced option that works well," Dr. Micallef noted. “When I ran out of the composite after the DPS review period, I went ahead and ordered more from Ultradent, and I’ve been happy using it for my restorative treatments ever since.”
