Bulk EZ PLUS
Dual-cure bulk-fill composite gets even better thanks to state-of-the-art spherical fillers that provide better shade matching, enhanced polishability, and greater wear resistance
There are hundreds of patients walking around the San Francisco Bay Area who’ve had posterior restorations placed by Troy Schmedding, DDS, AAACD, and it's a good bet that he used Bulk EZ for the vast majority of them. That’s because Dr. Schmedding has been using the dual-cure, bulk-fill flowable composite for the past 7 years. So, as soon as Zest Dental Solutions released its new formulation— Bulk EZ PLUS—he didn’t hesitate to make the switch.
Raising the Bar
Zest took the benefits of Bulk EZ and raised the bar even higher. Featuring 80-nm spherical zirconia fillers, Bulk EZ PLUS provides greater wear resistance and improved shade matching and polishability—all of which draw a direct line to enhanced esthetics.
“This new spherical formulation offers more wear resistance, which means I'm able to place it into occlusion more easily,” explained Dr. Schmedding. “It also has improved shade adaptation since it absorbs light better and blends in well with the natural dentition."
This balanced flow and easy finishing means Bulk EZ PLUS can be used for everything from crown fabrication to core buildups and post cementation. A one-step process gives clinicians the benefit of enhanced stackability while eliminating the need to layer or cap their restorations—saving valuable chair time. Compatible with all bonding agents, Bulk EZ PLUS also prevents gaps and microleakage.
Smart Polymerization
Building on the same Intellitek Curing Technology of its original formula, Bulk EZ PLUS has unlimited cure depth without the need for additional primers or activators, and provides limited, controlled, and directed shrinkage.
“Other composites that aren’t dual-cure shrink toward your curing light, creating leakage" said Dr. Schmedding, adding that as Bulk EZ PLUS begins to polymerize, it shrinks toward the bonded surface. "I have a material that I can take from top to bottom in a variety of cases, and thanks to its physical properties, I'm confident that it can stand up to everyday use."
