Children are not little adults, and they often respond to treatment very differently from adults. The same can be stated for many of the special needs patients, who often require more patience and a more forgiving technique in the provision of dental care. Yet the oral health professional must maintain the same high level of care with the same diligence, if not more, than for the “normal” patient. This leads to a conundrum, whereas more treatment must be accomplished, with less resources, and in the most efficacious manner. The aim of this presentation is to guide the attendee through a series of cases, typically seen in clinical practice, and to discuss which treatment technique would be the most acceptable. In addition, newer biointeractive materials will be discussed and clinical procedures for both the “bioactive” and newly introduced bulk fill materials demonstrated.

After completing this webinar, participants will:

  • Determine the most successful methods for placing restorations in the pediatric patient
  • Identify the ionic exchange benefits of biologic materials for pulpal vitality
  • Prepare for the prevention of micro-leakage and recurrent caries.
