Successful implant therapy does not end when the sutures are placed. In many procedures—including All-on-X treatment, socket grafting, and soft tissue grafting—clinicians intentionally create environments that heal by secondary intention. These exposed or partially exposed surgical sites require thoughtful post-operative management to support biologic healing, minimize discomfort, and reduce early biofilm disruption during the critical healing window.

This lecture explores the biologic sequence of wound healing following implant and graft procedures and examines how post-operative protocols can influence tissue response. Participants will review the effects of commonly used antimicrobial rinses on soft tissue healing and consider the role of coating-based, tissue-compatible rinses in protecting vulnerable surgical sites. Through clinical case examples and practical workflows, attendees will gain strategies to enhance patient comfort, improve compliance, and support predictable healing outcomes in modern implant therapy.

By attending this webinar you will learn how to:

  • Describe the biologic timeline and characteristics of secondary intention healing following implant and graft procedures.
  • Discuss the impact of commonly prescribed post-operative antimicrobial rinses on fibroblast activity and epithelial maturation.
  • Implement a structured post-operative protection protocol for exposed surgical sites in All-on-X therapy, socket grafting, and soft tissue graft procedures.
