Choose a Versatile Composite for the Majority of Your Restorations
BRILLIANT EverGlow and BRILLIANT EverGlow Flow make up a single-shade, universal composite system that offers a unique Duo Shade technology for faster, simpler restorations
Many clinicians are looking to consolidate inventory and use a single-shade composite in their offices. But sometimes single shade composites have limitations, and this is where choosing one shade from a universal system works better. BRILLIANT EverGlow’s unique Duo Shade technology offers a single, universal shade system that blends harmoniously with adjacent teeth. From Coltene, an innovator in shade esthetics, BRILLIANT EverGlow and its companion restorative, BRILLIANT EverGlow Flow, provide dentists with 7 universal shades, each covering 2 of the VITA shades, so they can achieve the esthetic results they want with half the product on their storage shelves.
“In my practice, I have found that 64% of my patients are either A2 or A3, so I’ve asked myself whether I really need a singleshade composite,” said Dr. Mario F. Romero, DDS, Clinical Director of Romero Dental Seminars.
Unique Duo Shade Technology
It works like this: BRILLIANT EverGlow uses a unique Duo Shade technology, which allows two VITA shades to be combined into a single shade. For example, BRILLIANT EverGlow’s A2/B2 shade will effectively match both VITA A2 and VITA B2 shades.
“While there are other ‘single-shade systems’ available, and many can be used for posterior composite needs, it becomes a challenge when restoring anterior teeth for a Class IV or a through-and-through Class III because now you can’t use the single shade approach and you’ll need to add an opaquer,” Dr. Romero explained.

More Opacity, Less Translucency
Developed with a focus on esthetics, long-lasting restorations, and ease of use, BRILLIANT EverGlow uses innovative optical properties for seamless, single-shade restorations—restorations that eliminate the need for translucent enamel material and “blocker” composite to mask dark, tertiary dentin. Simply put, there is more dentin-like opacity, with much less translucency, enabling shades to blend with adjacent teeth.
“I have chosen BRILLIANT EverGlow A2/B2 as my universal, or single shade, restorative material,” Dr. Romero explained. “The dentin-like opacity material is ‘opaque’ enough for me to use without an opaquer for anterior teeth as well as all my posterior composite needs. At the same time, it is slightly translucent at thinner layers, which allows for good reproducibility of natural translucent areas near the incisal third.”
Outstanding Gloss Retention
With increased abrasion resistance, BRILLIANT EverGlow has a smooth surface, which simplifies polishing and cuts down on chair time for both doctor and patient. Dentists also will find enhanced gloss retention.
“The gloss retention of this material is outstanding,” Dr. Romero reported. “That being said, it’s important to understand that a good polishing technique is required for this to happen. This begins with good handling of the composite material; this material is non-sticky and handles very well. Clinicians should follow a good layering protocol that allows the material to be placed and sculpted, leaving a smooth transition between layers. If all the layering steps end up with a smooth restoration, I initiate my finishing using a fine diamond bur to remove any excess and correct tooth anatomy. I finish and create a highly polished surface using Coltene’s ShapeGuard, which is a 2-step system.” Dr. Romero finds that this efficient approach results in a “beautiful gloss that lasts.”
BRILLIANT EverGlow’s compressive strength makes it ideal for restoring posterior teeth. In addition, an optimized monomer composition leads to lower water sorption, which in turn supports long-term color stability of the composite.
No Running, No Smudging
As a perfect partner to BRILLIANT EverGlow, Coltene’s BRILLIANT EverGlow Flow complements the system with its optimal handling abilities, ensuring no running or smudging.
“I use BRILLIANT EverGlow Flow to fill any irregularities in my preparations so that they are more uniform before using my sculptable composite,” Dr. Romero explained.
With a low viscosity and good wettability for extensive coverage, BRILLIANT EverGlow Flow is highly stable, and, although it will stay where it’s applied, it also can be moved, allowing ample time for light curing.
“Another good use for this material in my practice is for preventive resin restorations,” Dr. Romero said. “These are small, enamel caries lesions that require a material that flows well but also require a good shade match. The Duo Shade properties of BRILLIANT EverGlow and Flow really are a unique feature. These are a great addition to my operative dentistry inventory,” he said.
